In better news, made my weekly trip to the grocery. Out of about 100 shoppers, I counted only two without a mask (one a child).

Horry county S.C. record 214 cases today. I went to a 35 person outdoor baby shower. I had the only mask including 2 bartenders. On a separate note, 2 different couples I know took separate flights into New York w no problems. I have no idea how / if they are enforcing our 14 day quarantine. Seems like a scare tactic to me
Trying to avoid all comment sections like the plague these days, and Iām sure they get toxic at some point, but the first several dozen are all a shining beacon of joy in these troubling times.
What are UP thoughts on outdoor stuff? Weāre meeting with family and friends some outdoors, golfing, etc Weāre not masking up outdoors, just trying to keep some distance, but I canāt tell if Iāve just been dragged down by the OPEN FOR BUSINESS folks that surround me.
IMO outdoor plus masks is extremely safe.

@Danspartan gave me this link for weighted density: A better measure of population density captures urbanization . Iāve put that into an R file here: https://github.com/unstuck-pol-dev/covid19/blob/master/density/WeightedPopDensity.R . Iāll export it to CSV in the morning and upload the result.
I couldnāt see any way to get the UMD data from the site, so maybe we can ask them to share it. Iām not very hopeful about that.
As for where to put the data, it would be in the same github org. Iāll PM the details (Ā”maƱana!), and you can start uploading. We can always move stuff around or undo mistakes, so donāt worry about getting everything super organized.

I wrote an essay on The Sound of Silence in JHS. The teacher read it to the class. I was mortified. Pretty sure thatās why I never became a writer.

I went to Target in West Palm Beach two days ago and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of people wearing masks. Probably over 90% with masks or some kind of face covering.

I wonder how the rest of Europe is doing. Our numbers in the Czech Republic are at their highest since the peak of the pandemic. The place that stopped documenting the R0 has restarted and has Czech Republic at 1.6, up 0.4 from yesterday.
Not sure if the government has the political conviction to do another lockdown if it comes down to it.
Looking a little closer at the numbers, this again seems to be driven by the recurrence of another outbreak along the Czech-Polish border. But this still originates from an outbreak that was supposed to be taken care of 2 weeks ago. Only a matter of time before itās second wave oāclock here.
