I read this a couple days ago and doesn’t look like it was ever posted. The part about choosing to end the pandemic socially before it ends medically seems to be the path we’re taking.
I was slowponied on the tweet about the three airborne transmission studies and deleted my repost of it.
I love every time someone says something dumb they defend it with “You believe the media!”
Was just thinking there after reading JT’s posts and the reply and thought about when some peeps said they may leave the US if Trump was elected.
What would YOU do if you knew this Virus was on the way a year ago? Say January 2019.
I’m okay with this.
I feel like I need one of these independent of Covid concerns.
It isn’t as simple as just leaving. My wife and I will probably ex-pat once we have saved enough to comfortably live the visa vagabond life but getting citizenship or residency most desirable places is not that easy.
Ah so your pony was down wind of the indoor ventilation from my pony.
(I got to kill your pony anyhow, the little fun things in life)
I’ve started meeting my dad for a masked up, outside only, social walk. I would suggest that.
Fuck fuck fuck

I still cling to the hope that a city or cities will sue the AG and the governor for their absurd behavior.

Meanwhile the AG was indicted years ago for trading fraud and his case has been delayed and delayed and delayed.
That is the consensus. Every reputable food safety group is saying that takeout is safe. The FDA, the WHO, the USDA, etc. etc. Go look it up. The burden of proof is on you to show any evidence of foodborne transmission.
A: No.
B: If your position is “some scientists were wrong about one thing, I’m not listening to them about anything,” then idk what to say here.
Start an emigration thread imo. I do software and I’m sure my remote opportunities will go up a lot if/when this is done. Beat: no college degree fucks me over for some countries I believe.
Hard not to laugh at the juxtaposition between this thread nitting it up for 300 posts over the fractional % delta in risk between buying groceries and takeout, and the other 50% of the country rushing back to OPEN UP BUSINESS and happily infect themselves. (I realize this is the point… Jt is trying to hold down the overton window).
I’d love to take one of the deplorables from my Facebook feed, hold their eyeballs open and force them to read through the last 500 posts and get their take. I legit think they would cry. Like by their 20th JT post they would be reaching for their side arm and wanting to end it all. Imagine how crazy we think Qanon posts are? Well this is a discussion so far departed from their current brainwashing that it would be inconceivable. Similar to a 3d creature experiencing a 4th dimension. I don’t even think we would get a reaction, just dumbfoundedness and an inability to comment on what they had just read.
Is there any way we could make this happen?
i’ve been unintentionally ending my virtual conferences with “it’s been real”. i don’t mean to do it and i regret doing it but it keeps happening. i think it’s because i’m going insane.
This is somewhat validating to my ventilation-oriented analysis, but as you say they’re just three (old) data points.
But this makes me wonder: if the magnitude of viral shedding is related to how loud people are talking or singing, then that could add another dimension. It would seem to make restaurants, and, especially, bars and concerts, far more dangerous. I could add an ambient noise component into the analysis, but that would probably send the results haywire, since the decibel scale is logarithmic, and is yet another unproven variable to jam into the analysis.
Time for a “Is takeout/delivery food safe?” thread.
The CDC wasn’t wrong about masks imo, they were lying about them. It was pretty fucking obvious at the time.
We caught a break that the normies haven’t figured out that masks won’t keep you from getting sick. How many people would wear them if they knew the point was to keep the wearer from infecting others?
I’m the one who compared you to an anti-vaxxer and I stand by the analogy.
People like to think our problem is Republicans and Fox News leading a bunch of lemmings over a cliff and we wouldn’t be in this mess if only people would exercise some critical thinking. My argument is that we’re in the mess because way too many people who are bad at critical thinking are trying to be critical thinkers and a significant portion of the people who uncritically follow Republicans would still do so if they were thoughtful because they are stupid.
People who were restrained by respect for authority now no longer have that respect. If everyone was as smart as you, then it would work out, but people are idiots, so it doesn’t.
Yes, it is all connected. I just see different connections than you do.
