So I think I already know the answer to this - but I’ve played with the same group of guys in a somewhat competitive but not cutthroat beer league softball for over a decade now. The season is set to start next week. The league claims they are going to strictly enforce the distancing when you’re not in the field - no one allowed in the dugouts, no sharing of bats, if you’re drinking you have to bring your own cooler.
I play one of the center fields so for the majority of the time I’ll be decently far away from everyone else. But of course the type of guys that play skew towards it all being fake news so who knows how well everyone actually follows the rules.
This is a pretty unnecessary risk and I should pass right?
that sucks that it’s on you to be the front line of this information war. it’s a big responsibility. i really wish we had an educated society so you could find a more enjoyable or productive hobby.

The south is virtually unlivable rn. 24/7 mental exhaustion. The only thing they are worse at than education and Covid s gambling so I’m stuck here for a few more years .

I mean I’m definitely not doing anything noble or anything. I just have a masochistic streak for reading stuff that pisses me off so I follow a lot of right-leaning pages that have just enough of a sprinkling of left-leaning folks that you don’t get dogpiled and overwhelmed any time you make a post. I am a POS and only like to argue with people dumber and less informed than me which is why I rarely get into it with anyone here.
really I mostly just ridicule. It’s really the only thing left to do lately. I usually will respond to misinformation with factual information or a correction to something that’s false, that’s the best stuff I do. Then I have a deluge of right wing trolls I get into it with every time I do something like that.
Believe me, it’s bad out there. Like holy fucking shit it’s bad. Some of the stuff that’s become kind of normal to me would explode this crowd’s heads. This is the most informed group on covid (and most other topics) I can find out there.
The average person, if we were to somehow rate covid knowledge on a bell curve, would be at least 3 sigmas below this group. But, the good news is that voices like mine are getting louder lately. I’m not the only one screeching into the void anymore. It feels like something has slowly been changing in the last 6 months, and polling data is backing up that suspicion.
