Welp, the local progressives may have managed to push my back to the center. In the wake of COVID-19, they want to expand Medicaid and unemployment, and cut stimulus checks for everyone. Cool, cool, but the state can’t run a huge budget deficit so how do we do that? With a wealth tax. Ok, cool. How’s that defined? Cap gains and such? No, all income derived from “wealth” which includes all business income, regardless of income level.
So a freelancer making 30K pays the same 3% as me, and I pay the same 3% as a billionaire.
Cherry on top? This raises an average of $171 per resident of the state per year… And that’s supposed to cover all of the above.
Lucky Star has to be one of the dirtiest casinos in the metro with one of the saddest poker rooms I have ever played in so unfortunately this doesn’t surprise me much.
They closed the actual poker room years ago, and moved 3 poker tables to the end of the table games pit. We used to play 1/2/5 PLO out there for years in the middle of the casino until they shut it down a year or two ago. Legit one of the best games I’ve ever been in. Nut low playing conditions and non existent comps though.
Yes but I am not sure exactly how to account for that. We also haven’t really seen the CFR sag that much as testing has ramped up which tells me it probably only matters a little bit at this point as far as comparing numbers over at least the period where we have been doing hundreds of thousands of tests a day. On one hand you should catch more cases when you test more. On the other hand at some point you hit full saturation when you are mostly only testing symptomatic people who volunteer to be tested. The main undercounting of cases is likely happening with asymptomatic (which aren’t being tested at all) and mildly symptomatic people (who may not seek a test). I don’t think many people who want a test are being turned away like they were at the end of March.
Bottom line is basically everyone who wants a test has been able to get one at least for a couple of weeks. The fact we are setting new highs overall for some states or even over the last 30 days is relevant when I think we are all looking for trends. Was there likely a much higher degree of undercount a month and a half ago? Of course. But at this point the amount of case undercounting is probably very similar to 3 weeks ago or so even if we are doing more tests.
We had the highest number of new cases today in the US as a whole since May 8th. On that day NY/NJ had roughly 6k cases and the rest of the US had 21k. Today NY/NJ had 3400 new cases and the rest of the US has 24,200 a new all time high. The difference in the ability to get a test is roughly the same from today and May 8th so I think you can reasonably say that most of the US is trending in the wrong direction.
Lastly just doing more testing does not mean your trendline goes up automatically. NY has done more testing than ever in May and their cases have trended down dramatically. So if your case numbers are actually trending down the data can show that even if you are testing more than ever.
The rules of playing with “a rock” vary a little by the room, but the way I’ve seen is is that you’re basically playing with a mandatory straddle, but the person who straddles is whoever won the previous pot. “The rock” is basically just the amount of chips needed to straddle, usually taped together, so that the person who wins the pot has an additional reminder that they need to straddle.
As far as I know, the original rock was held together with a rubber band, not tape. Seminole Hard Rock Tampa has a round plastic case they use to hold the chips for the rock, if memory serves me right. The biggest games usually take place in a small room with two tables. Given the issues with being a confined space, I wonder if they will put the top game in that room or out in the open.
That’s a dumb rule imo. Like a plo kill I guess. Seems like it would suck for good players by reducing play and making you straddle oop. I like button straddle.
I almost pointed out that it was like a kill, but I wasn’t sure how many of y’all have even played in live limit games with a kill.
I don’t think a button straddle is good for the game. The button already has an advantage, moreso in PLO vs hold em. Letting the button straddle just increases that advantage. Playing with a rock induces more action than allowing a button straddle.
