Mother in law is on vacation in France, and got COVID. She’s now isolating there, but will be returning home to the US on Weds and will likely still be positive (no fever, no respiratory issues). She plans to stay with wife and I for a couple nights, before returning home.
Wife and I both had COVID about 4 weeks ago. Is there an exposure/sickness risk to welcoming the MIL into our home? I think it’s okay, given we’re both rich with antibodies? What’s the consensus here?
Low risk, imo. And even if you get it, so what? Long COVID? I suppose it comes down to how worried you are about that. I’m not very worried about my own risk of that given my current health and my understanding of it, so in your spot I’d just proceed if planned. But I could certainly imagine others acting differently.
The risk is pretty low for you, but there is a nonzero chance she infects you. I would plan on at least having some tests on hand so you can know whether to isolate should you develop any symptoms. You might consider masking around each other and taking further precautions depending on your risk tolerance and ability to isolate should you get sick. But I won’t judge if you are willing to risk getting sick without taking precautions as long as you can avoid infecting anyone else on the off chance you do get sick.
Yep I’d just roll with it and see if you get sick and expect not to. Wouldn’t think there is much chance of her being contagious post-isolation (that is what the isolation is for, no?) and even if so I think it would be quite rare to pozz twice in a few weeks.
So the wife’s historical society annual dinner is tomorrow. We’ve had a handful of cancellations due to contracting COVID in the past week (out of 85 so a little over 5%).
Thankfully we are in a tent next to an old mansion for the venue. Will be tons of natural airflow. People will be also using the house but doors will be open. Expect to see a fair number of masks as it’s an older crowd.
I know a bunch of people who have gotten it recently. I actually bought a testing kit when my son was sick a couple weeks ago, but never used it because he was diagnosed with something else (and it was obvious after a few days).
I mean it’s gonna be a small wedding (immediate family and close friends) but still a gathering.
And I ain’t bailing on it. Bought the plane ticket and everything.
That’s the Czech data. The number of confirmed cases (including reinfections) in the last 7 days per 100,000 inhabitants is 22. In more raw numbers, there were 206 positive tests for COVID in the country yesterday. This day last year, there were over 6,000 positive tests. The population of the country is 10.5 million people. So it’s the population of North Carolina and the size of South Carolina.
