COVID-19: Chapter 10 - Mission Achomlished!

Possible. She said scratchy throat started last night. We’re being conservative and saying that today is Day 0.

Per CDC:

Sat would be Day 5, if today’s Day 0. That means she could fly on Sunday, at least according to the CDC? Seems crazy to me, I know they relaxed their guidelines, but still. My hope is that we don’t have to deal with the moral dilemma of traveling/working while positive and that she’s testing negative on Fri or Sat.

If I was 5 days out and feeling well I’d probably diligently wear a mask and get on with it if it was an important trip. Everyone else is probably pozzed anyway. I might be a garbage human though, I dunno.

Nauaea is a new symptom right? Sounds like this might be the new variant

Feels like there are 10,000 symptoms!

Nausea is not a new symptom. Seen it a ton for quite some time.

The work, described as “an important step forward” by one independent expert, bolsters thinking that emerged at the height of the pandemic that Covid leaves some patients with tiny clots in their lungs, and potentially in their brains, leading to a wide range of long-term memory, concentration and thinking problems.

Time for a jab?

NHS England bosses said it could be “a very challenging winter” if the variant increased the risk of infection.

Anybody over 65, older adult care home residents and immunosuppressed people are to receive jabs from 11 September.

The plan is to jab as many eligible people as possible by 31 October.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) says there is limited information available about the new variant BA.2.86, but it has a high number of mutations and has appeared in several countries.

Ended up coming home from Labor Day camping Sunday night instead of Monday since wife and 2 of 3 kids not feeling well. Wife had been feeling kinda blah for a few days but powered through. Kids started getting sick Sunday. Wife is pozzed. Kids aren’t but it seems like the last time it went through our house tests read negative on the first day or 2 of symptoms. Is that a common experience with the at home tests?

I’m good for now but am gonna pure work from home this week. 50/50 back in office requirements can get fucked.

Hospitalizations from Covid-19 have crept up in recent weeks, although the rise is lower than the same time last year. In the week ending 26 August, just over 17,400 people were hospitalized for Covid-19, NBC reported, up 16% from the week before.

PSA: CVS’s online system is allowing people to book vaccine appointments for the updated booster as of today, but they do not yet have insurance information linked. So if you hypothetically made an appointment for a shot today, you will likely be told that you either have to pay $190 or reschedule your appointment. This, of course, is not communicated to you until you show up to your appointment. (They may have said that they have United Healthcare linked, but I’m not certain about that since I don’t have United and I was in too much of a pissy mood to ask further.)

I was assured that things should be fine by Monday.

Who can have an autumn Covid booster?

At the moment you can still only get the Covid vaccine via the NHS.

The government has confirmed which groups will be entitled to an autumn booster:

  • Residents in care homes for older adults
  • All adults aged 65 years and over
  • People aged six months to 64 years in a clinical risk group
  • Frontline health and social care workers
  • People aged 12 to 64 who are household contacts of people with weakened immune systems
  • People aged 16 to 64 who are carers and staff working in care homes for older adults

Beware BA 2.86

I get my free Covid-23 JAB at the weekend, combined with the flu JAB

I saved some lives on this board in the first wave, i’ll be here for y’all again this wave

such a modest hero

I give you ~42.0% of the credit too. We both did good, IMO.

According to de Matteo, she was forced to “switch careers and figure new things out because my own industry thinks I’m a savage” due to her beliefs against COVID vaccine mandates. She added, “I guess you could say I was a bad girl because I did not follow the rules a couple of years ago.”

De Matteo said her views resulted in her agent dropping her, and she “almost lost our home” due to acting work drying up.

“I used to have a lot of money,” de Matteo said. “And then, all of a sudden, I went from being allowed to work to never being allowed to work again. I was never the kind of actor that took jobs just to stay in the business. I literally took jobs to feed my family. So when people make nasty comments about why I would have [joined OnlyFans], my response is, ‘Damn straight, I hope you’re never in the fucking position I’m in.’ I take care of an entire family and a lot of other people who depend on me.”

Ok, maybe the vax is wrong.

“I hope you’re never in the fucking position I’m in” says person that put themselves in that position.
