COVID-19: Chapter 10 - Mission Achomlished!

My son (and the rest of my family) tested negative. So I guess he’s just bad at smelling stuff, or bad at detecting skunk smell. Glad they’re all OK, but my poor wife now has to juggle all the driving for two kids.

Mother-in-law pozzed so no visit this weekend.

She called and asked about “that Covid pill” and got laughed at by the receptionist. “No such thing”

Called us and gave her the name Paxlovid. She’s in her 70s and overweight and probably has a couple of other risk factors.

She called the doctors off back and just was able to leave a message. Waiting to here their reply. Told her to try another office if necessary.

Furious.

Glad it seems to be working so quickly. Are you enjoying the weird taste in your mouth around the clock?

Maybe too early to celebrate but I’m much better than yesterday. Started feeling funky late Monday, was downright sick yesterday, today I have a runny nose and persistent cough but otherwise feel pretty normal. No fever even without Tylenol/Advil. Hope this is it.

So I’m supposed to completely isolate for five days, and then only be around other people if I’m wearing a good mask for the next five days? But isolation for the full 10 days is better if I can swing it, right?

An urgent care should be able to do it in a pinch

Yeah, it is awful. Comes and goes for me though. Strongest within 1-3hrs post-dose but more manageable in other timeslots.

What’s it “taste” like, if you don’t mind me asking?

Feeling any better today?

Feels like we have more pozzed guys here than any time in the past two years.

It was a chemically taste for me. Some describe metallic but I didn’t get that. Kind of felt like a thick saliva that was flavored with chemicals. For me it was worst about 8-10 hours after taking each does. Nothing unbearable though, just sucked on hard candy and it covered up the taste. I’ve had way worse tasting meds before.

It tastes metallic. Can’t really shake the taste by drinking a lot of water. Sour stuff seems to help negate it for me.

I’m feeling a lot better today, if it wasn’t for shortness of breath my other symptoms are like 90% gone at this point, and this is only having taken 4 doses of Paxlovid. I actually took a test earlier because I was feeling so good I wondered if I might get a negative result on a test (which I’ve heard some people report doing), but no, it flagged pozzed within like 30seconds of putting the drops in haha. The shortness of breath scares me some tbh, like I stood up quickly earlier and I was sort of gasping for air for a bit and it took me a while to get my breathing back on track. I’m wondering if part of the shortness of breath though is just made worse by me thinking about it, sort of like a panic attack / anxiety.

For those of you who were thrice vaxxed and got covid, what kind of symptoms did you experience? Can’t figure out if I have covid or allergies.

Breathing stuff freaks me out, and yeah I’m sure that obsessively thinking about your breathing probably isn’t super great anxiety-wise. Glad you have a pulse-ox to know if things are getting bad, but I reckon it’ll blow over soon. Peace and love.

Slight sore throat and very intermittent cough was how it started for me. That was in my “Is this just in my head, or allergies?” phase. Over a few hours the next morning I began to feel very definitely sick - at that point I was sure I had caught something, knew it couldn’t be allergies.

Sore throat was the first for me
Then aches/chills/fever
Then sinus stuff/cough
That was within the first 36hr. Sore throat only for first 8hr or so.

I caught covid 2 weeks ago and my only symptom was a slightly sore throat that lingered around for about a week and a half, never really getting better or worse until it just went away. Kind of always felt like it was going to get worse but never did.

Like a cold that cleared faster than my usual cold

Sorry if you posted this earlier in the thread, but did you then isolate for 5 or 10 days? At this rate I’m going to be pretty much better tomorrow and will feel weird isolating for another week.

Slight sore throat: check.

How about sneezing or runny nose?

I actually don’t recall if it was 7 or 10, officially, but it’s not like I have much personal contact anyway. My girls were negative on an antigen test to get back to daycare which was the major thing.

Sore throat, cough, slight fever, tiredness, no sneezing or runny nose
