COVID-19 (2): Turns out it's going to be pretty bad actually

Listening to my mother bitch about how things are going with covid19 while she’s staying in a bungalow in rural upstate NY and working from home is pretty infuriating.

Apparently, Cuomo is releasing violent criminals who are then immediately committing crimes then going back to prison. Really, he’s releasing elderly, pregnant, and prisoners who are almost done with their sentences. And who the fuck is committing crimes during a lockdown?

Evidently, New York City is looking to get rid of high school entrance exams not just due to covid19 but in general. This is true but I don’t consider it a bad thing. New York City has one of the most segregated school systems in America and removing entrance exams benefits minorities who don’t have the money to afford an education level on par with white people and Asians. Of course, I’m not going to get a 60 year old Trump supporter to understand systemic racism. Deplorables think racism doesn’t exist because lynchings aren’t a thing anymore.

Before that, she demonstrated empathy (though not support) for the liberate protests going around the country and then anger at that hairdresser who was imprisoned for violating the quarantine laws. Apparently putting people at risk of coronavirus is totally cool so long as you’re white and doing it with a pair of scissors in your hands.

She also was annoyed about how people can’t get unemployment compensation due to the volume of applicants. Of course, the reality is that the lack of a social safety net is exactly what politicians and the 1% want. It’s a moral failure perpetuated by a society that hates poor people and thinks the unemployed are that way due to laziness.

I really don’t engage her anymore on this stuff. The things she rants about are either inaccurate or logically inconsistent. I just let her run out of steam enough where I can direct the conversation to something worth talking about.

And the Dems aren’t cutting a commercial with this information right now because…?

Because the story just broke?

Fair. But it’s probably 2-to-1 against them ever doing it.

They do have a non filer form but I think that would be tricky in your case.

Still trump supporters saying anyone else as president would have made any difference.

So, what are they going to do instead? It’s a nice idea, but I’m not sure just any kid can hack it at Stuyvesant, for example.

Out of curiosity, what does your Mom think of the Arbery shooting? Just trying to get a handle on how deplorable she is.

Meanwhile, in Belarus, good day for a parade imo.

I guess that will be the case study for the “Pretend it doesn’t exist” strategy.

Wow. That is literally a crime against humanity.

Thankfully we have a free press that still has some teeth. At least the Miami Herald.

Florida nursing home deaths from COVID-19 spike dramatically: up to 22 at a single home

The call is worth listening to

A week ago united said they were keeping every other middle seat open. Lol.

Derby Lane is open for racing today with no fans. Dog racing only. So is Palm Beach Kennel Club. Palm Beach is doing a huge handle compared to normal even though only online betting is available. I still can’t see them opening poker rooms any time soon, but who knows. I guess I should say I can’t see myself going to a poker room any time soon.

Wait why are production lines that could produce 7 million a month sitting dormant? Wouldn’t they be full blast selling to other countries? Or that has been banned?

Also couldn’t a bunch of states go in together and get this going?

There were a bunch of articles about that plant/guy weeks ago. IIRC he wants a long term contract or something.
