Anybody want to take a stab at what date the US goes on full lockdown, or whatever our version of that is?

Spain can’t be very cold right now either. Although I guess they have a lot of mountains.

Next Friday.

I’ll guess March 25th, unless some governors start doing it earlier.

lol at that graphic design. A skull and cross bones, really? This isn’t a video game, dipshit.

lol wat

are you the artist? I don’t understand your reaction.

Well, I have started working out again this week and am keeping a log. Historians will probably use it to theorize how our physical weakness caused us to be vulnerable to the virus…

I’ve got a doctor’s appointment this week. Nothing pressing. Cancel it, right?

Grunching. Georgia has postponed it’s presidential primary. I’d say we’re about 50/50 to the scenario where the presidential election gets postponed and we’re in the worst case scenario i laid out two months ago.

Yeah my vision checkup is up. That can wait.

Although I’m at the gym right now. I figure the risk in my area is still low and it might be shut down by next week.

Although asking someone for a spot is right out.

My friend’s brother owns two hospitals in Houston. He says there are zero tests to be had. None.

The college I work at closed for the week (moving to distance modalities after that per New York’s directive). Faculty and staff must report and all offices/services open and available for students.

Not really sure how I feel about that.

All K-12 districts in the county closed indefinitely. Unsure about their staff.

I feel like we are in the calm before the storm and it’s weird. Like any day (likely 5-7 days) hospitals are gonna get overrun and the shit is gonna hit the fan.

Well-oiled capitalism supermachine:

More than 100 rural hospitals have closed in the United States since 2010 and another 430 are at risk of closing, which a new study says could have life-or-death implications for rural communities.

University of Washington researchers examined 92 rural hospital closings in California from 1995 to 2011. They found that while the closings of urban hospitals had no impact on their surrounding communities, rural closings caused their populations — which have limited access to health care and other services — to see mortality rates rise 5.9 percent.

Schools in our county are closing after this week which seems odd why not just close now?

My sister works as a dance teacher and their studio isn’t closing despite the schools closing which seems extremely stupid.

I just spoke to my grown daughter, who was shopping in a local grocery store near their place in the Bronx. She said it was nothing crazy, although their trip to a larger store yesterday had more of the panic vibe.

They’ll both be working from home this week. When she went either yesterday or today to Staples for office supplies, she noticed they had toilet paper, proudly displayed at the entrance.

When I wondered to her whether places in poor neighborhoods might experience less hoarding shopping, she agreed, although she wondered if it has less to do with finances and more to do with lack of storage space in a typical NYC apartment.
