That second one is more or less on the money.
We do. You only get 3 sick days a year though. She used one earlier in the year and she used her two up this week being sick.
She doesn’t earn much pto either. I think maybe 10 days a year and you have to earn it. She has like 15 pto hours but they haven’t approved it.
She works in a warehouse
My second hand anecdotal experience was target was out but Food4Less wasn’t. Not that target is the store of the super rich, but maybe the run on supplies is a little less prevalent in the poorer quarters.
Over. Way over.
I just wanted to chime in and say these updates from every country are really helpful. It’s good to know what’s going on in the rest of the world and every data point helps paint a clearer picture. Thanks to everyone who keeps adding them.
Seriously though I wonder how many people have this instant of access to on the ground reporting in this many countries and regions - as we do itt?
Germany to offer ‘unlimited loans’ to businesses
Germany is to offer unlimited loans to businesses to help steer them through the coronavirus pandemic, its finance minister says.
Olaf Scholz said there was no “upper limit” to the loans, which would be made available through Germany’s state-owned bank KfW.
Well I’m in a poor area in Chicago, there’s a F4L, an Aldi’s, a Walgreens, and two dollar stores in a 3 block radius.
Update here: our investigators have stopped going out to serve our papers on defendants, which is good. Courts are still open, except for jury trials which I never have, and the office is still open.
They sent out telework instructions to the attorneys in the event we go to work from home. Turns out literally none of us had the appropriate software installed for it.
Meh.
I think it’s just really hard to say which is a bigger factor. If the early research we’re seeing that most of the spread is in the incubation period, and they’re catching people 2-3 days into the incubation period rather than waiting for symptoms after an average of 5-6 days, sometimes 12 days, they could be significantly lowering the R0.
I’m not saying it’s definitely going to have a higher mortality rate in the end, I’m saying that to say .6% is the ceiling is to give people a false sense of security that can harm preparation efforts. Especially because, as a human race we have to remember that the global rate is going to be higher than it ends up being in South Korea, because there will be numerous third world countries that experience a rate 10 times higher than whatever the final rate in South Korea ends up being. Plenty will fall in between.
This will give us a good idea of the mortality rate with proper treatment, but it won’t be a good model for real world community spread.
Anybody think this might be a seismic shift in the fight for workers rights? Its going to become painfully obvious that companys cant just fire their entire staff during a pandemic for staying home and its forcing them into offering worker friendly alternatives like WFH and extended paid time off. It might be a small silver lining, but a silver lining nonetheless. The fact that there have been no major layoffs in a 20% down market with massive numbers staying home has got to be at the very least a general good sign for labor.
This may also be the something like the CDC’s policy although they’re not allowed to articulate it in public because they don’t want to antagonize our brain-worm-addled president. It would explain a lot about how they’re acting right now.
Yeah. I have thought this for several days.
One argument in favor of shutting everything down is that if this thread is representative, nobody is getting any work done anyway.
I’ve been sitting in my cube with my feet up reading this forum for the last 2 hours.
I think you’re right to say that we can’t say 0.6 is the ceiling (or the floor).
Yeah, but, average age on the cruise was 58 and no one under 70 has died.
Is everyone else raiding the grocery stores or is that just a Midwest thing?
