Well, that’s not going to happen, right? It’s a virtual lock to kill at least the 5 figures of mostly older people that the seasonal flu kills most years. Right?
If schools close the parents have to find an alternative to care for their childs. If they cant find one and have to stay home themselves they have to take their vacation days if they cant find a solution with their employers. There is a special law for reasons you cant be responsible for but that only takes care of the first few days after that it will eat into your vacation days. I actually didnt know that I thought it would be like the child sick days. I think that would suck for a lot of people if your vacation days are completely used before the actual holiday season begins.
My “we don’t end our sentences in prepositions” joke directed at nobody was just flagged so hot damn people are on edge. Understandably, of course. Sorry if I contributed.
I have mild shortness of breath but I feel like it’s paranoia. I can still work out or walk up 4 flights of stairs without hesitation or extra breathing.
Without going to the gym (or, more accurately, fitness classes) I have high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and worse sleep. Also, they have alcohol wipe dispensers and everyone wipes down stations between rotations. I’ll take the better immune system vs potential exposure tradeoff.
(Haven’t heard any coughing or sneezing lately, and they did send out an email that people with symptoms will be barred. I won’t be going if I’m coughing or aching. )
Was in a doctor’s office yesterday for non-virus stuff. But I asked what they were seeing, and while both the NP and Doc said they were seeing lots of nervousness and hysteria I got two different reactions:
NP: “All bullshit. Closing down schools is just going to create hungry kids in the poor areas around here. And the virus is nbd.”
Doc: “Gotta close down schools so we can keep the infections to a manageable flow and not be overwhelmed. But everyone is going to get it, and you shouldn’t worry about it.”
