In other parts of the world where this is happening, they’re just treating for COVID-19 in these cases to the best of their ability. Depending on the country/region, those treatments look a little different, though.
There are going to be lawsuits out the ass over who owes who money based on stuff that got cancelled. It’s going to be nuts. I’m worried that may be the threat to our economy we don’t see coming, kind of like unwinding all the connections in the financial crisis where people didn’t know that they were buying and selling credit default swaps back and forth and had to unwind all of it.
Does CBS still have to pay the NCAA $1B for the TV rights this year? If not, is the NCAA underwater? How many people have a share of that problem? How much does it push uncertainty into the markets?
Fuck if I know.

Jones said Tuesday that “The patented nanosilver we have, the Pentagon has come out and documented and Homeland Security has said this stuff kills the whole SARS-corona family at point-blank range.”
“They’re still discounted despite all the hell breaking loose,” Jones added.

So the Presidential Primaries that remain are going to have to go to all absentee or be cancelled, right? Also if they go to all absentee they’re going to need some sort of protocol to sterilize the mail. I guess UV lights?

Last I heard in Ohio they had some poll monitors who had to pull out for health reasons but about 500 people stepped up to fill their places. As of now, some polling places have moved but it’s going ahead as scheduled.

Over half of the student body in Washington just had school cancelled for at least six weeks. Of course it was the only thing Gov Inslee could do, but there is no real plan in place for childcare.
My boss told me that after Wuhan - the Chinese govt completely shut down Chongqing - the city where here parents live - after only 10 positive tests. Chongqing has 30 million people.
Oh I see. For someone with such a good grasp of the consequences of unchecked pandemic, that explains going on TV to ban travel from some but not all European countries and nothing else. That will fix everything.

Johnny, there are lots of videos of Italy and China available. Yes, the streets are mostly empty and some shelves are a bit bare, but it’s not Mad Max out there. Food is available. Society hasn’t collapsed. And I don’t think anybody on the forum has ever been criticized for stocking up on a couple weeks’ worth of stuff they know they’ll use.
