Wide-range closing of schools and care facilities should only be done if parents who work in medical institutions, police, fire departement and other related areas can still go to work and dont have to stay home because of their kids.
So any word on if China or some international commission with shit down wet markets going forward? Will this pandemic be a wakeup call to the world that animal borne diseases can really fuck things up?

Friend of mine just sent word that NYC is going to put containment actions in place “today or tomorrow”. Limited subway service, only emergency vehicles on roads, etc.
If true (big IF, since this is the type of chain message that always goes around in times like these), that would be huge. I don’t believe it, though.

- my older child’s high school just closed until April 14
- beginning next week I’ve reduced my office’s hours and gone to half staff
- wife’s office (Disney Channel) is closing next week

Fun anecdote, someone I work with claims that she’s been getting monthly Amazon deliveries of toilet paper through their subscription service, and Amazon actually canceled on her this month. So much for that.

My pony is probably slow but Disneyland is closing Saturday. I think they needed the extra day for logistical purposes.
Fwiw the French health minister just confirmed there will be minimum services retained for the children of essential workers. I hope / presume such stuff is going on elsewhere.
