The cruise lines are all going to go bankrupt. Their stocks have lost like 50-75 percent. They are all highly leveraged and can’t afford to have this many cancellations and this level of business drop for this long.
Number of new cases was hovering at 80k for a while as this was stabilizing in Wuhan, but now that it’s breaking out everywhere it’s going nuts again. Really think the next 2-3 weeks are potentially going to get crazy very fast.
In addition, here in the US we move the clocks forward this weekend, which will lead to a percentage of the population feeling sleep deprived and rundown for at least a week.
The only good news I can find is that the spread still appears to remain very slow in the warm and humid countries. (caveats apply about whether they’re even testing, or perhaps has a non brain dead govt that took this on properly from the start)
I think you’re doing the right thing man and wish you the best of luck. I wish I had a ticket out of here for my family - think I would have punched it a couple of years ago.
My only solace now is watching the stock market melt down so I can “told you so” all the morons I know with their head up their ass. (And losing money is the only thing that gets through to them.) Not too healthy for the soul but it’s all I have.
How long before a major US city just orders it’s own test kits? If I was the major of any city I’d have been looking into it at least a week ago. Is it illegal? I’d still probably declare a state of emergency, do it, and dare Trump to sue me. Not a good look for the administration to try to stop a city from testing to protect it’s citizens.
Second question: if NYC had done this and started testing today for anyone who wanted it, how many positives would they get? I feel like the o/u is probably 2,500 or so real cases there now, maybe more, but obviously you wouldn’t catch them all.
9 upvotes on his post? Oh yeah I’m sure just as many Canadians, Swiss and Spaniards casually threatened to commit mass bio-terrorism against their political opponents during their recent elections. Suuuure.
