For the past few years I’ve made them for our Hanukkah celebrations. I’ve posted my own here before I think. My MIL and my wife’s bubbie said they were very good. She was born in 1920s Poland and is a holocaust survivor so I’ll take the compliment, even if she’s just trying to be nice.
You ain’t a Polish Jew unless you tried to eat this in your lifetime. My dad actually likes it.
Grandma Wookie’s birthday dinner, crab cakes with both a plum curry sauce and an ersatz remoulade because I didn’t think I had quite enough yield of the plum sauce, and a risotto with asparagus and sugar snap peas.
Us Jews should stick to soup and deli meats. P’tcha looks disgusting.
If your aunt called them “pierogies” with an s she’s pretty Americanized.
P’tcha is aspic. Used to be the bees knees in America for a long time. Nothing special. I love the stuff, especially with tongue.
Soooooooo jealous. Looks amazing.
Yeah, not a drop of sauce was wasted. Highly recommend the addition of some avocado to your usual benny.
That’s looks perfectly cooked. Man I love sous vide.
I really love pork tenderloin. Looks good man.
I’ll take two please.
I lolled at leeks and avocado bolts.
I tried this tonight, ironically for Easter dinner . Turned out pretty well, I think! I had to make a couple substitutions (I didn’t have any spicy paprika, so I used some red pepper flakes instead, but not too much to drown out the other flavors.
I also only had some canned tomato sauce, so I reduced that down to paste and added diced tomatoes, as well. I cut back on the lemon like you said, and it came out to be just enough that there was a tangy-ness that didn’t overpower the other spices.
two thumbs up. Can’t wait to try it again when I have real spicy paprika.
Easter dinner. A mash up of different ethnicities:
Persian Koobideh and rice
Indian Tandoori Lamb and Naan
Greek vegetables and tzatziki
Picked the lamb up curbside from a new butcher in town. It was outstanding (and expensive!). They’ll be my go to for most meats when I"m allowed out of the house again.
ETA: My 7 year old daughter is a weird. She wanted a hard boiled egg, too.
seconded! Used to always get those when we went to games. Sauerkraut and mustard on those things was the best baseball food. I haven’t been to Great American, do they have them there?
does anyone even make metts anymore?
Wow persian food looks great! Crispy rice is one of those things I don’t trust myself with.
Sigh I miss restaurants. I went to a buffet by myself a a month ago because I knew this was going to happen. I’m gonna go cheer myself up with some muffins.
Tahdig would easily rank in my top 10 foods. Looks amazing.
