In her will she asks be embalmed and to run for re-election

Sept 7th and everyone could see she was on death’s door and had been for more than a year

Wasn’t Feinstein a pretty good senator up until her 80s? Think she belongs in the other thread for non terrible people. Not her fault she had dementia/old age brain/whatever and the party and electorate kept supporting her.

Interesting discussion.

The tweet is a bit ambiguous as well. My understanding of it was that people petitioned her a lot to take down the flag and she refused so someone cut it down and then it got put up. I’d put her squarely in the centrist lib category of playing the middle got to please both sides of it and not in a Confederate apologist side, which the Bernie tweets from a while ago heavily implied.

If I had to pick I wouldn’t put her in the terrible people thread but in the not terrible thread because while she wasn’t particularly progressive or good on anything she wasn’t actively terrible either.

Yeah she may not have done as much good as Ginsberg, but their legacies should be similar. Mostly strong liberal ideals, compounded by the fact that they did major damage to progressivism by not retiring when everyone else in the country is expected to.

Every politician is going to have some good and some bad. LOTS of them have more bad than good, but it’s a spectrum.

Hard to imagine any politicians that don’t belong in this thread tbh. She may have been better than some but was still terrible.

Dianne Feinstein may have been a bottom 10 VORP senator overall and was by far the worst among Democrats.

She has been worth over 8 figures for several decades and continued to do this shit out of sheer narcissism.

I hope her death was peaceful, but I will not retcon her into anything resembling a force for good now that she’s gone.

You can cherrypick things like this, but a full account of her tenure form the 70’s-90’s would have to include her being on top of the AIDS epidemic and gun control and generally being considered an effective mayor. Granted, she probably should have retired 30 years ago.

Fuck you ghouls

Those are pretty bad tweets but calling them ghouls seems a bit strong

It’s absurd to put Feinstein in this thread. It’s some fucking freedom caucus level of thinking. Feinstein helped make CA a one party state and deserves a ton of credit. She’s also single handedly responsible for getting to the bottom of Bush’s torture program.

Anyone who thinks she belongs in this thread is a moron.

I beg you, stop being ghouls for one fucking day and recognize the work put in by the people who came before us. Everyone on this forum has freedoms because of DiFi. Everyone.

Really just pathetic posting in this thread.

I jumped for joy when Porter said she would run in the primary and Feinstein should have retired a decade ago, but she’s a top 5% senator historically.

retire a hero in your late 70s or cling onto the power through narcissism and ego until you become the tyrant, i guess…
