You’re doing it wrong if you are trying to change his mind. All you end up doing is working yourself into a rage and getting you to mad is what owning the libs is all about.
I see the value in this thread as having someone on the other side who we can examine. We don’t know him. We don’t have to be polite and circumspect to preserve the peace like we would with family members who hold similar views. He doesn’t know us. He doesn’t have to lie about what he thinks, although he may choose to anyways. I want him to feel the freedom to (civilly) express his views so that you could describe his opinions in a neutral manner that he would concede is accurate.
He’s never actually said what he thinks the causes of secession were. I suppose I could assume that his thinking is similar to others who have expressed Southern pride, but I prefer not to assume. I don’t assume that he flies the Confederate flag. He has implied that he disagrees with an explanation of the Confederacy rooted in slavery. Perhaps he has a novel explanation that doesn’t cover well-trod ground.
I think he has a simplified view that liberals think that the South=the Confederacy=slavery and maybe there are people in this thread who think that way and probably some posters who make it easy for him to keep thinking that way.
@Heritagenothate, you’ve mentioned attending UA. To what extent did your education include classes relevant to the history of the American South? What have you read, both inside and outside of that educational experience? Do you have a favorite historian of the South?
Until today I assumed that all the references to 5G were about something else entirely and I just sort of skipped over them. I had no idea someone was claiming it was related to COVID-19 somehow. So, to save me from going through this AIDSfest of a thread again, can someone answer these questions:
-What do derpers believe the connection between coronavirus and 5G is?
-Does HNH believe this also?

I don’t think they think it’s a connection to coronavirus, just that it’s another conspiracy type thing. I don’t think he believes in that but apparently he thinks WiFi/cellphones and “dirty” electricity are bad for your health.

I’m still interested in some aspects of HNH’s theory. So he thinks 5G is bad, but 4G is OK? Does he use a cell phone himself? What are the other kinds of “dirty” electricity.
I’m not really sure other than he sent me a podcast talking about dirty electricity. He has a iPhone. We both work for companies that are involved with installing 4g and 5g so I wouldn’t think he has any overly dumb thoughts about it but then again
I got the low down from a fellow taxi driver the other day, this conspiracy has ran like CoV-19 through my community.
The lines are radiation and emit radio waves that are affecting all our immune systems is the basics of it.
It emerged a few weeks before when everyone was on the Can’t trust China with installation of our 5g network.
So I’m assuming it’s a couple CIA operatives targeting the UK so Boris has to change course on the Chinese deal.
I hold the right to be completely wrong here, ofc.

This conspiracy has my own brother confused, he thinks it’s all OK as he’s worked in the industry like yourselfs and has no problem dismissing it straight out of hand…

Obviously I can’t verify anything I barely recall reading on the internet, but what I remember reading is that COVID19 is a digital virus that can be activated or deactivated with 5g to track or even kill anyone the government wants at all times.

Thanks for your post, it’s well thought out and i appreciate it. My love of the south boils down to my ancestors didn’t have a choice and did what they thought was best (fight and represent their home land.) With that in mind, it’s fairly well documented that Lincoln was a racist, despite your/our teachings. Also , the south seceded for monetary reasons as well as the over reach of a tyrannical govt.
well if
monetary reasons = abolition of slavery would be bad for them financially

Haha man this is amazing, it’s very well documented Lincoln was a racist. I’m not aware that people hold him up for not being one. It’s more so he had the will and courage to see the war through in face of his personal feelings.
Also didn’t have a choice lol, all they had to do was abolish owning human beings and they were like nah let’s have half a million die instead
