Betting on Sports

My plan for taxes is to claim all my winnings as other income and if the IRS wants 800 pages of sports bets and winning casino wagers they can fuckin have it but come at me bro.

That is what I will likely end up doing too. Did you get a 1099-K from PayPal?

Yes, my understanding is that the IRS wants the gross proceeds of every winning sports wager listed in your AGI. That I assume has to be a much larger figure then what is listed on a 1009-k from paypal or in your bank records. I wonder how many people are claiming an AGI of a million bucks for no net winnings.

The irs has about 8 agents

Good luck.

Burrow O 1.5 TD’s at even via Draftkings promo it let me bet oh you limit me huh well I’m gonna get every promo like this one. Yeah take that.

Burrow gonna die on Sunday. KC pass rush will have their ears pinned back. Probably still good value there though.

For some reason in NY we can’t bet on interceptions. Why would that be?

Love it. That bad boy could pay for a lot of White Castles iykwim.

Essentially got the banhammer form DK and BSS in the same week. Perhaps will starting looking into new accounts but the tax implications for that seem confusing.

Dropped two grand the day BetMGM opened up and they offered me 4 additional deposit bonuses over the next two weeks. Finally had a big winning day from them yesterday and they banned me from the boosts lol. Got on chat to see if they would explain what I am limited for and of course they would tell me nothing. I was able to place a $100 parley with a 20% boost promo, so maybe that is a good sign idk.

MGM is spending a ton lobbing in Albany to open a casino a couple of miles away from me this year. I am a little tempted to reach out to my state senator. That sounds like a joke, but I may be serious lol. This is really predatory and awful.

Welcome friend

After playing around on these sites for a month I get why they are so paranoid about this stuff. They seem to be in over their heads and are offering way too many bets. I swear that last week I briefly saw a scalp-able NBA player prop on FanDuel where they offer the the same bet at different prices depending on where you click.

the non garland cavs really suck :(

this is the easy part of the schedule :(

the other weekend MGM had a Derrick Henry rushing yardage prop at +105 or something in one spot and +155 (don’t remember the exact odds) in a different area of the prop page, i was so confused i thought for sure i was reading them wrong but two of my buddies saw it too.

This is super common on FD. Always shop the lines between books and between tabs on the same book.

Just wait until you see a “Boost” splashed on the front page, and a better price / higher odds listed in it’s normal spot in the game lineup.

Wish I had taken a screen shot, but the bets were literally right next to each other. Like this:

Only the lines were much further apart. Like one was “under +110” and the other was “over +105.” I didn’t think it was wise to bet both sides so I checked another book to figure out which one to take and it changed by the time I got back. Really surprised at how inept some of this is. The prop lines on Fanduel in particular jump around like crazy right up to tip-off. Without limits I am pretty sure you could just destroy these guys. I don’t even really understand why they feel the need to offer so many of these options. Maybe these are just to bait players into making lottery ticket SGPs?

Also, this may be well known, but MGM has been giving me a 20% parley profit boost up to $100 every day. The 20% also applies to the full amount returned (not just the “profit”), so weirdly you get a better deal at short odds (I think). You can make a -10000 ticket and it would still pay over 20 bucks.

Ding ding ding. Parlays and SGPs have so much vig baked in and are so difficult to win. They are the biggest moneymaker for the books by a longshot, so unsurprisingly books are doing everything they can to get people hooked on them.
