Only these nshb posts. And then there’s the rest of us.

Is there a primer somewhere on “how to easily make $30k from promos and arbs”? My state is soon to be legalized. Although I already have a FD and DK account so those won’t be sign on bonus options. I know there’s a good Reddit on arbs and promos - anything else?

I can write up a longer post when I’m on my computer, remind if I don’t in the next few days. But basically get on a lot of different books, learn them inside out so you can quickly get to bets, and teach yourselve how to arb. Promos are just gravy on the gravy, and many of them will involve an arb of some sort so understanding the basics of that will help a lot.

The casino promos tend to be pretty simple EV calculations to know if they are +EV. For sports I use darkhorseodds.com to find arbs for free bets and profit boosts. They are one of the cheaper options for this at $40/month. Not great for arbs as they tend to be slower and not cover all events, but they can usually get me 75+% return on any free bets.

Oddsboom is $15/month and has generated probably $8k in profit for me since I started usong it in May. I’ll see if there’s a referral discount for anyone interested.

Has anyone used oddsjam?

Most books have $500-$1000 risk free first bet as a promo, which you can convert to 75% or so in cash. You just bet the max amount on a heavy underdog and hedge on another book for guaranteed profit no matter the result. As mentioned, sites like darkhorseodds can find you free bet conversions

Other books have deposit bonuses with simple rollovers.

I also read the daily promo thread on r/sportsbook and follow https://twitter.com/ThePromoguy123 on Twitter for +ev boosts and promos

They are starting up online sports betting in NY in a few weeks supposedly. I don’t really follow sports (and don’t plan on starting), but if the bonuses are thisgood I may have to play around a bit.

The amazing thing is the bonuses can be this good because there’s that many people just punting money regularly to these sites. They all had record breaking profits despite handing out free money.

No but it’s one I’d definitely consider if I was going to try and make more money than just promo chasing. DarkHorse has arbs but they are often pretty slow to update and don’t cover all events.

I’m curious as to how profitable arbing can be long term. I’ve already been heavily limited at BetMGM just from hedging promotional bets elsewhere and they tend to have the most arb friendly lines. I can usually find a few arbs in the $10 range with the big bet being $500, so hitting one of those a day for fuck around money would be cool, but not if it comes at the cost of being denied action by the books eventually.

Think about the reasoning skills of your average sports fan and then realize all those guys are betting on sports every night.

Lol, very glad I am just learning about this now as it is just a 90 minute walk to New Jersey from my apartment and I don’t want to be one of those dudes who hangs out on the GW bridge on the weekend.

I’ve used their free side of things briefly but then went to Oddsboom for the better layout and significantly cheaper cost. I get at least two emails from Oddsjam every day and they’re kind of annoying with their hyperbole on everything.

You need to skate a thin line to avoid limits. Stay away from the random obscure sports like Korean Baseball or KHL. Keep you bet sizes under a few hundred. And don’t take every arb available. I only go for 5% or higher. The only site so far that has limited me to useless levels is Barstool, and that happened almost immediately. Hopefully I can keep this going long term cause it is seriously awesome.

OK, I may take another run at it without BetMGM (I can still use them, but my limit is $116.40 which makes total sense!?!) 5% seems really good. I was taking a lot of 2%ers. 5% would be great because it could keep the bet sizes smaller and still generate worthwhile profit. When those arbs do appears, what is your time window to get them?

Often under 60 seconds. My setup is a laptop and a 34" moniter behind my laptop. Whenever I’m at my desk I have the OddsBoom arb screen locked in the lower corner of the big screen and autorefreshing every 20 seconds thanks to a chrome add-on. I have all of my sportsbooks readily available in different spots on the screen so as soon as I see a good arb pop up I can quickly get to both bets simultaneously. Having ample screen real estate helps a lot.

Oh, also avoid Alt Lines if you can. That seems to lead to limiting quicker, especially on MGM. Stick to main lines and main player props as much as possible.

Instead of arbing, is it also profitable to just figure out which book is sharper and then bet the other side at the other book? More variance but would think it would work…

I’m location restricted in my betting, have to be next to the arena/stadium to bet so can’t do what you do. Instead I just drive and park next to the arena/stadium, pull up Pinny and the MGM/William Hill odds, look for any differences and then bet MGM/William Hill where their odds differ from Pinny. Can usually find deviations pretty quickly in College Basketball right now.

Only want to invest 15-20 minutes doing this so not getting amazing bets down, but seems to get me some +EV bets with minimal investment.

60 seconds or less is sort of what I thought. I had been getting a ton of $100 free bets from draftkings for a while from their casino promos and was often flipping them for 80%+ profit thanks to alternate lines on BetMGM that sometimes had me betting 1K+ on them, so that’s probably what got me done in there. It was a great run while it lasted though.
