Betting on Sports

Lol I really should go back to my status quo of not betting on sports, but very tempting to go double or nothing on the championship. It’ll be different this time!

I bashed the SEC all year and even I didn’t bet Michigan

oddly enough flip Cincy/Michigan and I think both games are quite a bit better than what we got

Top of sec and Big are good

Bottom of both conferences are trash.

Ohio State would have been a much better game from an entertainment standpoint, but Michigan obv deserved to be here. Wonder how the sportsbooks did as I know the line was at 45 for a while.

I posted these last year and I was even more disciplined this year. I’m really proud of myself. I’ve been able to get some fun things for me that I otherwise wouldn’t have, but also some fun stuff for the family and some college savings for the kids. I’m still in the mental state of this won’t last forever, but I’m playing with house money so whatever.

Congrats! That’s really impressive. We are definitely in the golden era of sportsbetting in the US. Think it’s comparable to the Moneymaker era of poker.

100%. I’m not some dude who’s beating the spread, but I’m taking advantage of what’s available and when that goes away I’ll have no problem pulling back.

This is absolutely the case. It’s just so good right now. I haven’t done my final year end analysis yet but suffice to say I made well over the average annual salary this year almost exclusively from arbitrage, good boosts, and sports/casino promos. It’s actually ridiculous.

I’ve cleared over 50k just chasing casino and book promos this year and I didn’t really start til about may. It’s fucking insane. I still have like 4 1k risk free bets to hit up as well.

Here’s my graph from just the sports side of things. Casino side is just about the same amount of profit. Looks better than my poker graphs ever did :joy:

Here’s to a profitable 2022 for all of us!

Really impressive! Do the boosts and promos usually come from sites that offer legal betting in your state and are trying to establish themselves? Hoping to do something similar when they legalize online sports betting in California in the next couple of years.

A lot of the good promos are certainly attempts to grab market share. When a new market opens there is usually tons of free money up for grabs. But I’m in NJ which has had legal betting for years now and it’s still pretty amazing. One very important tip is to make sure you fully take advantage of the new user sign up promos once you have access to legal books. Don’t waste a $1,000 risk free first wager promo by making a small bet or not arbing it properly, for example.

And a ton of my profit came from promos and boost that weren’t even that great, but when played in a risk free way lead to guaranteed profit. Like if a book has a promo “bet $50 on such and such game, get $1 per point scored if your bet wins” you can usually qualify for the bonus without actually risking anything.

I started September in earnest and am up about $20k, it’s absurd. Most from signup bonuses, arbs, promos/boosts, and especially casino bonuses. I’ve played so much starmania the last two weeks I’ve been seeing it in my dreams

No casino bonuses in Iowa, so I’m jealous of the states that have those.

Speaking of which, PA Caesars:

From January 1 - 3, use code DAILY40 to receive a 40% bonus match on your next deposit up to $500 each day!

Back to the star mines

quickly estimating minimum of 750% ROI on the year, Bonuses/arbs/etc some part of it but most of it was that wind game or futures that hit.

no casino bonuses tho sad. More wild wind games again please.

Or the Cavs to stop losing all these stupid covid ravaged the roster games.

hmmm fanduel doesn’t let you combine first with any TD scorer on a parlay but it does give you an extra leg for promos

also Jets D/ST with Berrios still works on fanduel on any TD (they will fix this soon) (grant/bears doesn’t I just looked) tough to work with combining with other stuff just straight up those two for the most part

I don’t really want to do much research, so I’m going to test out the heuristic of identifying dumbasses who think they are good sports bettors and talk about it a lot and taking the opposite of the side they like.

Seeing everyone post free money is so tilting. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for ya but the state law thing is incredibly irritating. My mind is wandering–thoughts like “is living in West Virginia really that bad?”

when you’re right about Berrios scoring 2+TD’s in parlays but you’re an idiot for stacking Jets D/ST in them. that’s me, sigh.

only played 4 games so far this year with those. Get that game right and still blew it cause I was an idiot for throwing that in silly me thinking if he scored 2 he’d get one that way sad.
