Betting on Sports

Fanduel has “Superbowl Correct Matchup” bets, but not DAL/CIN. Maybe they’ll add more options at some point.

On DK, just parlay DAL and CIN to win their conferences. Comes to +8900.

I have a question about DK and other large sports books: Do they ever stop taking bets on a game if one side is getting too much action?

The odds will change, they won’t stop it unless their is an injury or something at which point they will temporarily halt/adjust the line.

Like I imagine most CFB/CBB games with a big team vs a little one have very little action on the underdog.

I know I know, paying to follow somebody. But anybody not following nba1stbasketguy’s vip account on twitter is doing it wrong. dude just kills it, day in and day out.

I think paying for picks at this point is ok if it’s not totals/spreads. I know ETR is doing very well with their NFL and NBA player props. Problem is you are going to get limited pretty quickly if you’re betting any sizable amount.

Thanks for this.

Next roadblock: I am in a state (MA) that doesn’t allow DK, FD, etc. DK has a pop-up prompt that says something to the effect of, “your device’s location indicates you are not in a permitted area. Please make sure that you are within a permitted area, then try again

Does this mean that I could make a bet if I was in CA or some other state that allows DK? Could I have someone currently in CA log into my account and make the bet for me?

Like is it that easy to circumvent the geographical restrictions? It seems like DK is almost implicitly saying that in their pop-up.

Yes, you can wager on the book if you are in a state where it is legal.

You can have someone log in from another state and bet, but if you log in from MA, then they log in from CA shortly after, and then you log back in from MA, it’ll probably get flagged and you may have your account temp locked and need to submit ID verification or something like that. I assume too many times and they could shut you down completely.

If you have a long delay between logins from different states - indicating the ability to actually travel between them - you may be able to get away with it without getting flagged. Not sure how their algorithms work.

I’m sure it’s against their ToS to do that. And there’s prolly some law you’d be breaking as well.

Idk how far you are from NH, CT, RI, or NY so it might be a pain in the ass, but physically driving to those states to make your bets and then coming home would likely be just fine. The geolocation is accurate. I think it’s kinda funny when I’m in MA sitting in a casino playing poker and I go to make a bet on my phone but blocked from doing so. Drive 15 minutes away from there and I can make my bet. States being laboratories of democracy.

Pretty sure that is considered messenger betting which is federally illegal. Or so I’ve been told. Definitely do not log in from MA within the time frame that it would take to travel between the two locations.

A better option would be to have someone you trust in a legal state place that bet for you on their own account.

Thanks all. CA is not a state that you can bet from, upon further investigation. So my brother in law being my gambling mule is not an option.

I’m gonna schlep to CT, but not before I try to convince my bookie to take the parlay.

My daughter lives in D.C. Whenever her bf wants to bet on DK he has to be within a few hundred feet from the DK betting parlor at Capital One Arena for the app to work.

I remembered the had a $200 parlay going. I checked on it this morning.

I debated hedging. Saw the line had moved to -12.5 so I though about a big hedge with a shot at a good middle. Went to bet it, and saw the game had an 11:30 start time and was down to -9.5 again. I had my finger on the button to bet 1k on SC at +9.5 and before I hit submit SC hits a 70 yard td and it’s down to 4.5. Next thing I know SC is up 18-0. Dammit.

Crap sports book in Biloxi wouldn’t let me buy a one point option on Wisconsin -7.5 earlier so I just bet it like that.

Also by complete coincidence, Wisconsin just won by 7.

lots of promos today, betrivers bet $50+ on early game get a $20 free bet for late game; Parx has bet $50 on either game and get a $150 free bet if either underdog wins; DK has bet $100 on each playoff game and get $1 towards a free bet for each point scored (totals are 46 and 57 so expecting a $100+ free bet)

Have no rooting interest or real thoughts in either team but just decided to load up on Michigan for some fun tonight.

Just threw $100 on Michigan, go big10, go blue!

I immediately regret this decision
