Best film and score pairing

Starting it off with a few from the master

I didn’t even care for this movie that much until the credits. I had been waiting for this.

The Hours has one of the best film/score pairings and a great score in general. Philip Glass is a little repetitive, but so is John Williams.

Are we talking the whole film or single scenes?

The discussion started just talking about the final moments of a movie, but I’d think the whole film or single scenes is fair game

Or alternately…

The opening scene with music only, too.

I assume we’re only doing original scores here?

Cause that knocks out a lot of Scorsese films.

No rules. The OP Kubrick scenes were not original scores.

It’s being a little pain to find what I want, but the Mission Impossible music is a pretty awesome pairing with the action scenes.

I just meant where the music and scene are a great combo.

I’m a little loathe to post Wagner, but obviously this is awesome.

No, that’s a great choice to post imo. It’s easy to forget what movies were so well paired that the track became a cliche.

Going in a different direction

Really adds to the creepiness

OK this is the last screen in trainspotting and as I was living among these folks and I seen the play beforehand where we walked out of the theatre relieved that some of us survived those days it made it all the more special and a tear for old friends who got lost, dam I’m tearing up writing this atm.

We had the very last night in Volcano in Glasgows West end just before Trainspotting was filmed. And our DJ didn’t show that night  and another m8 took on the decks  and was amazing.

Alough not my favourite when it 1st came out the soundtrack to me is the absolute best in all movie’s

This scene was perfect for a number of reasons, that most could name and the 1 iconic thing is that it was filmed in 1 of the worst areas hit by drugs in Europe.

Are there movies you’d recommend viewing the whole way through without any sound but the score?

Theme at the end of the sequence later became Adama’s theme

DANGER ZONE MOTHERFUCKERS

David Shire GOAT

Music on TNG two part episode Best of Both Worlds was terrific for a TV show, feature film quality.

More from BSG score guy Bear McCreary, the rest of Black Sails score is also great but the opening credits are amazing

Bunch of Scorsese films could be like that

Speaking of Marty

Fantastic scene. Love how it’s the only part in color and that the last bit of the song is foreboding as it leads right into the next scene

Of all the Vietnam films the Opening scene from Apocalypse now & Platoon were my most iconic.

Dam I was still listening to different variations of this song into my late twenty and I seen it as a young teen, OMG!! How we forget.
