And to add to @microbet’s OP, Kubrick movies are perfectly scored.
This movie ended up being only so-so, but the pairing of the track with the trailer is GOAT

Scorsese’s outstanding expressionist masterpiece intro (score by Hermann)…
Withnail and I’s drunk driving scene with Hendrix soundtrack
Funny story about 2001’s score. Kubrick put together a placeholder score of classical music to show Alex North, who also wrote the Spartacus score for Kubrick, what he wanted for each scene. North wrote a full score for the movie and was paid for his work. Kubrick decided he liked his placeholder score better and used that.
North found out that his music wasn’t used when he saw the film. Ouch
@anon92450360 The Commitments is such a good movie too, its captures small time bands down to a T… Got to admit its 1 of my Favourites of all time.
Not to derail but do you think Kubrick had aspergers? Dana Gould is convinced he was on the spectrum
Scorsese apparently likes to use existing songs that fit the scenes and he seems to have a real knack for it. This is some good shit right here for example:
Yeah. He’s used Gimme Shelter in three different films and it was well-used in all three.
AFAIK, he didn’t use songs like those with Raging Bull. I don’t really recall it having anything but two classical music pieces.
Believe it or not Busey did the singing and binked an Oscar nom for this film, which is great btw if you haven’t seen it go get it
goddamn that’s amazing wtf
