Upon re-watching for the second time I concluded the first season is not good (it’s OK, it’s just not what the show ultimately becomes). The second is much better (no small thanks to American Treasure Margo Martindale) but still doesn’t hit its stride until the end. Seasons three and four are great. Five is terrible but also somehow good. Six is also good and the finale is one of the best finales of all time.

Season 2 was literally the best season of Justified
The first season is good, it’s just not serialized. People have the same sort of gripe about P&R season 1. I knew when I did work for that I was watching something special, and I was primed to hate it based on Poehler’s previous work. Sometimes characters need to find their way. Sometimes stories do.

Yeah, I revised to basically say that. What makes the show “special” to me is the connection to the characters, and that doesn’t get much of a head start in season one except for with Raylan. Opening scene of Justified EP1 is possibly the GOAT:

I loved all of those episodes, probably because they were most like the Leonard books I’d read. Riverboatking convinced me to watch the show, even though I hated Olyphant because of his part in Damages, and refused to watch it because of him. It was clear to me he was born to play that part and completely redeemed himself with me lol

Check the show out, it’s quite good. It’s not top tier TV but it’s 2nd tier, and it was highly influential for the reverse storytelling that became so popular a few years later. The first 2 seasons were on FX and then it moved somewhere else, maybe Netflix and appeared to lose its budget and some of its quality. Olyphant really rubbed me wrong in season 1, but I can’t remember fully why.

I have not seen it. Yet. That’s a good reason to use it, but I think it was here where that term got discussed as unwelcoming by being misogynistic and homophobic.
Sorry don’t know what a line check is. I know what a cup check is and what a line brawl is, but not what a line check is.
