All-time GOAT TV Series

Yeah, fair.

But my comment about “given what happened the previous episode” is doing a lot of work there.

Basically I’m saying that at least half of the hate for the final episode should be placed upon the penultimate one.

Hard disagree. I’ve come around to the final episodes of LOST, especially after I saw a fan edit putting all of the Jacob and Man in Black scenes in chronological order.

But there is just no saving the entire final season and final episode of GoT.

At least I assume so. I have never been back to rewatch and give it a second chance. Maybe the time has come?

Thats what so tragic about GOT. The final seasons are SO bad that they have prevented me from going back and watching the good stuff. That is not something that has ever or will ever happen with the Simpsons. I can thrown on any random episode from 3-8 and enjoy the next 22 minutes of my life without thinking of what comes after. You cant do that wIth GOT

Even during peak COVID when there was absolutely nothing to do for months, I didn’t hear of a single person anywhere saying they were going to rewatch GOT.

Heck, I threw on some recent episodes of Simpsons and still got a chuckle here and there. I don’t think it’s that bad, just not close to the glory years.

GoT used to be appointment viewing for me. I’d have friends over and watch it with booze and popcorn. I couldn’t believe how good the show was.

I’d be curious to see HBO’s metrics on how many people still watch it.

No reason to rewatch now that we have a new extra sexy dragon show

I haven’t seen that one. Burned too bad by the dragons in the first one.

Didn’t the writers even admit they had no coherent vision and just threw something together to tie it up as best they could?

There is no argument there are a higher percentage of good GoT episodes versus Simpsons episodes. But Simpsons doesn’t need an end. Simpsons s3-8 exist on their own and are perfect. I love me some Game of Thrones at its peak, but this was an easy Simpsons vote for me.

One other thing about The Simpsons influence

NFL just did a Simpsons broadcast this year

Let me know when GoT does Planet of the Apes the Musical.

LOL me I guess but was never a Simpsons fan. Much preferred South Park, which come to think of it, doesn’t seem to have been even nominated for this competition, and should have been.

Debating South Park would’ve led to some peak forum in-fighting.

I was a big Simpsons fan from mid 90s to mid 00s but then South Park surpassed it. I don’t think South Park would have made it this far but I would have supported it over Simpsons too.

Am I the only one who just thinks the mafia / organized crime theme is over done and over glamorized? I like many of them them, but what does it say about us that crime is the central theme of most of the most highly regarded TV and film dramas?

Godfather, Goodfellas, Sopranos, Casino, Boardwalk Empire, Scarface, Once Upon a Time in America, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Ozark, dozens of others. All decent and I have my favorites (Breaking Bad and the Wire over any of the mafia centric ones) but I think they’re all kind of overrated as dramas

Ok, but GoT has no place in a top 8 either.

I thought GoT was pretty good up until the last 2 episodes but I still voted Simpsons and nothing Beetlejuice says is going to make me regret that.

Dani talks about burning Kings Landing to the ground in the earlier seasons. (S2 i believe) The last two seasons were not good but the idea the Dani plot line was why is not something I have ever understood.

100% this.

The Simpsons is the French dip sandwich of this draft.
