The place the protests have been before in LA are outside the federal detention center. Aliso St between Los Angeles St and Alameda St.
We should try to find out who is being held there now if possible, but maybe not possible. Justice Dept/Homeland Security are there in those buildings.

Coordinating any message on signs would be slightly more effective than not doing that. We should pick a slogan or something. I’m thinking something that says there are still innocent people locked up and one day longer is one too many. Let’s get them out Joe. Something like that, but succinct.

As long as we’re all open to the possibility that we’re going to stand around awkwardly and too self-conscious to do much of anything and then slink off we won’t be too disappointed.
Fucking covid. I’ve been trying to get vaccinated. In a few months we can do this and at least have the consolation of getting lunch.

I’ll still do that. If I remember/have my act together I’ll bring a case of water and maybe find somewhere to leave it out anyway.
Yeah just dropping it near an encampment would work. Lord knows there are enough of them around. I think handing it out directly is way too dangerous.

Nice. I’m scrounging to get them. I keep checking volunteer opportunities and I’m on a list that’s supposed to get texts when there are extra doses left over.
Not sure where to put this, but this thread seems at least partially appropriate. Yesterday, there was a class 6A high school girls quarterfinal basketball game here in Oklahoma between Norman High and Midwest City. The Norman girls decided to kneel as a team during the national anthem in an effort to do their part to fight racial injustice. One of the announcers, not realizing there was a hot mic on, saw this happening and absolutely went off - saying he hoped they got their ass kicked and calling them “fucking n****rs”. I don’t even want to spell that word out. The team will be coming home to Norman tomorrow at 3pm. My girlfriend has organized a welcome home gathering for them and has started a go fund me to get all of them some sort of gift basket with gift cards, food, etc. Working on possibly getting scholarships of some kind also.
