Now this is cinema.
Is the movie side of Lucasfilm just a money laundering operation at this point? All they do is announce stuff with big fanfare and then shelve it.
I mean approximately zero fans I know wanted this movie, so itās just as well.
I donāt really care if they want to run it back with Ridley, that would be fine. Just make it not suck. The ST is what it is at this point. Iād like there to be a future, and I think the ST characters are mostly salvageable as long as they do a better job on execution.
Yeah, at this point every SW film announcement feels like an Infrastructure Week announcement. Bizarre.
Disney does not appear to be good at this.
One issue with trying to salvage a future with the existing characters is that supposedly Isaac and Boyega have zero interest in coming back (Driver too, but Kylo is ded so whatever). So itās all up to Ridley, who is a perfectly good actress but her character was a total blank slate.
Sir, this is a Star Wars thread. Death is just a flesh wound in Star Wars.
Three cheers for Force ghost Kylo. Wouldnāt require but a few days of green screen work. Hell he could record the audio over his phone in one take.
I am always ready for a franchise to be revived by a good movie. I loved Force Awakens and then Last Jedi, so for me itās really just about making me forgive how bad Rise was. Theyāre already batting 2:3 for me.
I mean donāt get me wrong, Iām more staunchly against resurrecting dead characters than just about anyone you could meet, but by now Iāve learned that Star Wars creators have zero compunction about doing it. Iād like to think that Adam Driver would stand by his words and balk at it, but he is the only one who I believe would actually say no and keep it from happening. Star Wars creatives would dive in at first chance and not feel an ounce of shame.
Thatās fair. I just know that if they make a movie, say, as good as Mandalorian, I will be there to say okay this is not needed but is pretty great.
I wish theyād try out a new voice cast for animated features. Give us a Legends anthology series so we can get stuff adapted that was told in the very best novels or video games. They could eventually go the DC route and have a different voice cast for each new film. It would be neat to have Nathan Fillion play Luke.
Oh Iām still fully captive, Iām not skipping a Star Wars theatrical release. In whatever hypothetical world they actually occur in. At this point it feels like better than 50% that the latest project will be scrapped and another will be announced.
At this point Iām glad that some of the doomed announcements have been underwhelming, because Iād be crestfallen if they announced something actually exciting before fumbling it through the nearest grating.
Bad Batch trailer is out. Contains a surprise about the season.
Ventress is apparently back. Despite Bad Batch occurring after The Dark Disciple novel. So theyāre decanonizing another canon novel. And/or ignoring another death, which I realize is their favorite thing. Since SW novels are pretty far from high literature, and part of the value as a fan is in piecing together the overall SW canon story, theyāre making me less likely to engage with their books anymore. But this one is especially annoying since Dark Disciple is maybe the best SW book Iāve read.
Well, it appears that Iāll probably have to walk back my prior reaction. Glad to see it.
Begun The Bad Batch Season 3 has.
Was that a Sarlacc?
Two episodes into Ahsoka, is it just me or does she cross her arms a lot for no reason. It just seemed weird to me.
Yes she does. I noticed that too.
She does it so much that someone made an Ahsoka crossed arms compilation (potential spoiler in this video if you havenāt watched Ahsoka).
Almost done with season 2 of clone wars. Itās not elite tv and a bit repetitive at times, but entertaining enough. Easy popcorn tv. 3.5 bags.
Thereās a point midway through season 3 when it really shifts into a new gear. And happily, around that time, it starts following a straightforward chronology unlike what youāve gotten so far. Pretty confident youāll know the inflection point when you see it.
I canāt promise it consistently stays in the new gear. It still dabbles in utterly dull arcs and stories here and there. But the highest highs are definitely all still ahead of you.
