It probably will be again.

People in Texas watch a lot of football.

I’m probably in the minority here but I think Talarico is kind of a goober and being on every second of tv commercials during football in Texas might not be a good strategy.

He’s absolutely not a goober, wtf. If you’re looking at his style, sure. If you’re listening to him, he’s not in any way a goober. He’s the witty cool kid you want to hate but can’t find a way to do it.

Yes I mean his style.

And look I like him a lot. I’m just saying he wins by people hating Paxton and staying home. I don’t think he on his own is a winning candidate in Texas.

If you know that old cartoon Davey and Goliath, it’s impossible to unsee that he looks just like Davey.

Tbh I’m not dogging him he is like a top 10 percentile dem. But yes he has a certain level of opie from happy days in him.

I really like the guy and can’t think of a single politician I’ve ever seen come off sharper or smoother and of more substance in any interviews I’ve seen with him. Obama was not smooth in interviews. And he resisted talking the trash he wanted to. The dunks from Talarico are amazing which puts him a cut above. He just seems ready for every attack that comes his way. Like Obama, he’s a generational talent. He may not get to national profile, but we’ve seen very few people like him in our lifetimes. He has ‘it’.

He does not look like that, come on, stop being Trump like.

Man I knew nunn was out there talking about what a yuge favorite Tester was. Now he’s in here trying to gaslight me about it. Now I’ll grant he didn’t literally say “bet the farm” but “he’s a significant favorite” and “I wouldn’t be surprised if he won by more than he did in 2018” are certainly the same sentiment. I should’ve just used AI to search these up in the first place rather than rely on discourse’s insanely shitty search feature. Anyway, that’s all for me from this; back to your regularly scheduled “can the Ds win in xyz deep red state?” programming.

Ain’t nobody gaslighting you. No idea why you do this. Who cares about this shit?

And you’re literally taking qualified language and stating it as if I’m saying it’s a fact. Come on man.

What percentage chance are you giving Talarico?

Better than 50/50. It’s not like something can’t come out that derails him, but he’s running against Paxton. This is Texas and he can get killed by low turnout.

Well obviously you think that.

I’m more wondering if you think it’s 60/40 or 95/5.

It’s nothing like 95/5, that’s impossible to get to in Texas. Their history is too bad. A Democrat has not won statewide office there since I lived there in 1990. Again, this is a very good candidate against one of the WOAT candidates. I think Talarico would lose to Cornyn (close), but I just can’t see see Paxton winning because of what a corrupt doofus oaf he is. But people will never surprise me again especially after the disaster of 2024.
