Asking the guy what he see’s at the moment of his death, love that movie. Although I’m not a big fan of the last act but their are some stunning shots and moments in the earlier parts.
The king of France at da Vinci’s deathbed.
Would trade you all the eclipses for Northern Lights.
Visually cooler, but much less rare.
Looks like we’re fucked in Rochester. God damn it. Nowhere within 4 hours either.
My daughter and her fiance just came back from Europe last week and then almost immediately drove to Watertown, NY, where her great aunt has a home they can use, since the aunt now lives in FL.
Forecast there is partly cloudy, and she said as of now the traffic seems unremarkable.
Forecast here is for about 40% cloud cover. Traffic seems completely normal for now. I did see one camper set up in the Walmart parking lot.
I decided that I am going to be an eclipse hater. Something very odd about an event that people travel across the globe and spend tons of money to then not look at. Like if Medusa was pitching in the World Series. I can not stare at the sun right here at home imo.
Legit loled at Medusa analogy.
Guess we’ll find out what totality in 100% cloud cover is like. I’m sure it’ll be magical.
It’ll still be cool as shit!
Clouds don’t create light. In totality it’s still gonna go dark and weird; don’t worry…
i thought these things only happened like once every 50 years? or when they say that is it country specific? what was the one we had about 7-8 years ago with trump in office where he looked straight at it? was that also a total eclipse or something else?
I’m pretty sure that was a total eclipse also.
ok so i guess these things just happen way more often than i thought, you would think it was a once in a lifetime thing the way people talk about it
Total eclipse but not in DC. I think it took a southward arc in the US from the PNW down to the Atlanta area.
Here it is. 2017. Not Atlanta but SC
They’re still rare. In the US, I think the one before 2017 was 1991. And it depends on if you’re willing to travel for them. I’m 40 and I’ve seen 2 eclipses, neither were total eclipses. And if I don’t chase them around the country/globe, then this is the only chance in my lifetime.
Total eclipses happen pretty regularly, but a ton of them are out over the ocean or occur half a world away from you. It’s probably less than once in a lifetime to get a total eclipse you don’t have to move to see, but certainly more as you get willing and able to travel.
