2023 LC Thread - It was predetermined that I would change the thread title (Part 1)

For normal leaves I would say no obligation, unless you have like the only tree in the neighborhood and it’s obvious that it’s your leaves in their yard.

One exception, for me at least, is palm trees. I have several along the border between houses, and when they get trimmed once a year, it’s impossible not to spew crap all over the neighbor’s property, including all over their roof and in their pool. The trimmers do a mediocre job of cleaning this stuff up, and I usually try to do a more thorough job once they’re gone.

The general rule is that people are responsible for leaves that fall on their own property, regardless of where they came from. OTOH, people also have the right to trim neighbors’ branches that extend over the property line.

Goes back to the 1800s

yes…but what’s super funny is that Skyline has cinnamon and cocoa in it…so I have to wonder if regular (that stuff in the video looks like Wendy’s chili or similar) chili on a cinnamon roll ends up tasting something like skyline?

Also, Skyline is Greek food. If people would go there expecting Greek/Mediterranean flavors, they might not be so put off. Still think it was a mistake to call it “chili.”

My elementary school used to sometimes offer a lunch of chili and cinnamon roll

But not poured on the roll, for crying out loud

That never occurred to ANYONE at the elementary school lunch tables full of kids who liked to do gross things with their food

Cincinnati style chili is good though, and if you hate it you’re a snob

It doesn’t compare to the chili of southern states and Texas but it does not need to. Apples and oranges

exactly!

I don’t think I hate it. Half the problem is that you go in expecting “chili” and then you get whatever that is.

However, if I set that aside and evaluate it as something different, I think it is K. Definitely don’t love it, but don’t hate it either.

right. It’s Greek.

Like, try some good moussaka and you’ll instantly recognize the flavor palette it shares with Cincy-style chili.

Trouble is, when you hear “chili” you think of the stuff from Texas or whatnot.

I have had good, homemade greek moussaka and skyline chili. I don’t really associate the two, but thee experiences were decades apart. When I go to a Greek place, I never order that. And I’ve only been to Skyline a couple of times.

I do, on occasion, order pastitsio. I guess the flavor profile of meat in that is kind of, sort of, maybe similar. I’d probably have to taste them at the same sitting (or at least more frequently) to detect that.

this seems extremely normal

Hopefully they build a million of them and program an AI to run them with instructions to “eliminate all pests”. What could go wrong?

Hopefully they’d come for the About Moderation thread.
