He likes authoritarian strongmen.
There are reports that Egypt warned Netanyahu about “something big” happening in Gaza and the government ignored it and continued its focus on the West Bank.
How would you say this is affecting Netanyahu politically at this point? Are Israelis uniting behind him, and if so, is it more than temporary? Did he campaign on a strong military/intelligence platform? Is he making a lot of public statements during this time? Does it appear he took his eye off the ball because of the Supreme Court controversy and his own scandals?
It’s really hard to tell yet and super hard to distinguish between my wishes, me being a pessimist and any meaningful analysis. I cant really explain how unprecedented this has been. It can only compare to 1973 and that ended with the resignation of Golda.
Otoh Bibi has a huge brain washing propaganda network working for him, including a Fox News/OAN type news channel that has grown huge in popularity the last few years.
Israelis are shocked and the level of criminal negligence is yet to be known. A lot is dependent on the results of the war and the investigations.
Sorry for the non answer. If he survives this politically we really dont deserve to exist.
what are these buildings? how do they know hamas is there or not?
I have no idea what those buildings are, but Netanyahu will tweet out anything that makes it look like we’re responding with “success”. He’s desperate.
Honestly I don’t have much of an insight. I suppose they have varying levels of intelligence indicating that some Hamas leaders live or meet there or it’s where they think ammo is stored or where entrances to tunnels might be hiding. Beyond that I think they then “knock”, which supposedly gives folk about 5 minutes to escape the area, then they pulverise the place.
Basically they’re blowing stuff up so they can appear powerful and I doubt they need much intel to hit the big red button.
Is this thread not tracking at all for anyone else? I have it set to Tracking, and the last time I looked at it was last night. But the site doesn’t indicate the thread has new posts, and if I click the thread I always go to the end. Very weird.
I would say there’s literally 0% any Hamas leader is still above ground.
Works for me.
Yeah no problems for me either.
Don’t really have much to contribute, but appreciate all of the updates.
Stay safe Yuv.
Official death toll of Saturday’s attack are up to 900. Hamas are now saying that will execute hostages (ranging anywhere from 130 by Israeli count to a lot more by Hamas count) if IDF strikes in Gaza continue (not really ‘news’ but it did come out as an official quote from their spokesman now)
Yeah. Fair point.
Version I heard was El-Sisi saying publicly he told Netanyahu on the phone. Bibi has denied that.
It soudns fake tbh but it was reported in “respectable” israeli outlets.
I’ve been having sort of an opposite issue recently (mainly on mobile, I think). A thread will show new posts, I’ll click on it, and it’ll seemingly load the page at the new threads, but then immediately bump me up to some previous point in the thread that I’ve already read.
Ugh. Israel’s home front command just released a message that all citizens need to have water, food supply and batteries ready for 72 hours in shelter.
Yea have same issue on mobile, I think it’s related to tweets but just guessing
Edit: meant to reply to Jordan’s post
That will happen if a user you have on ignore has the last post.
