Hamas claims they have captured 5 soldiers. I don’t understand the goal of this operation but it’s going to be very bad for all the civilians on both sides.

Current rumors are over 100 civilians dead in Israeli cities and kibbutzim and IDF entering Gaza now. The mayor of the area was killed in the event as well.

The latter is not a rumour, IDF confirming strikes against targets in Gaza.
Strikes are from the air, that’s a given. My nephew is 19 and while he’s not yet in the IDF, his friends are and are about to enter on foot.
There 5 confirmed rocket hits (not stuff shut down by Iron Dome) in my city. 2 injured. What a fucking nightmare.

The current half rumors are a huge battle within Zikim base. So that means Hamas forces are actively trying and succeeding in capturing a big IDF military base within Israel.

More seriously, Hamas has apparently captured a couple Israeli towns and there are allegations they are roaming the streets shooting anyone they can find.
