One of my favorite moments of DJT presidency is when he would call in to Fox News, start ranting like a madman, and the hosts would cut him off and be like “ok mr president you’re very busy so we’ll let you get back to being president thank you for your time” like imagine getting a chance to speak to Obama and then hanging up on him.
I loved those. Someone needs to put together a hanging up on Trump montage. I’d watch the shit out of that.
Umm… I got best dressed in high school with a bow tie.
Still better than the 08 Lions
Is there a list somewhere of everything Kev gave up? For example I’m not clear if they gave Gaetz an Armed Services subcommittee gavel. The horrific dysfunction of this House is going to get old fast.
Not sure if complete list and just generally references positions.
Yeah some of these are general, like:
More Freedom Caucus representation on committees, including the powerful House Rules Committee
I guess we’ll see specifics/numbers soon enough.
These ones:
- Create an investigative committee to probe the “weaponization” of the federal government*
- Restore the Holman rule, which can be used to reduce the salary of government officials*
look like the ones the Freedom Chuds want to use to try to end investigations into Trump. I always hear about how Special Counsels continue on regardless of who is in power, like they’re untouchable, but nutjobs are going to use these to hammer away at them however they can. Establishment folk repeatedly saying, “Oh that could never happen” simply does not hold the weight it once might have.

twitter’s trying to figure out who that is, i’d pay to know what he said to instantly get gaetz to fold.
I don’t remember Gaetz voting for McCarthy, thought he did present both last votes
Edit: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/interactive/2023/vote-results-house-speaker/
Looks like the bearded guy who had been sitting next to Gaetz and Boebert that last night of votes.
Shot:
Mace offered sharp criticism of Gaetz and other Republicans who were demanding concessions from McCarthy. She said she had “significant heartburn” over the deal-making that she said was not done transparently.
“We don’t know what they got or didn’t get,” Mace said. “We haven’t seen it. We don’t have any idea what promises were made.”
“I don’t support that kind of behavior.”
Chaser:
Mace said she was considering holding back her support of the rules package because of the “backroom” style deals that were cut by McCarthy and opposing Republicans.
“I am on the fence right now about the rules package vote tomorrow for that reason,” Mace said.
Yeah, I think the rules package vote is going to be pretty nuts, too.
I think they’re all extremely spineless and will fall basically in line, like the person in the article above. She went from “I don’t support this” to “I’m on the fence” pdq.
Lots of them were “on the fence” about impeachment too
I was on the fence about the debt ceiling. It seemed to be bad for Republicans when Republicans tried it last time, but that was with just a few Republicans pushing it. The narrative quickly became ‘here’s a few nut jobs’. As it becomes party orthodoxy though I could see it solidifying into ‘come on Democrats just give a little to get going’.
Did she vote for McCarthy?
