It’s not all gibberish, there’s plenty of good simple “be nice to people” type stuff but that’s hard to weaponize.
i think of most bible passages as a lot more “broken telephone” than that. over time the pro-genesis of this passage was inaccurately translated and retold before it ever landed on parchment or tablet. i am just making shit up right now, but the parable could have at one point been about some guy trying to steal another one’s wife, and the lesson is that the woman cannot sleep with the assailant even to save her partner

Hostage taking is so ingrained in Republican thought that there’s no way they freely give money for anything. Anything always has to come from something already existing in the government.
It’s also a transparently stupid idea. You could give the IRS $10 billion or $50 billion more in budget and the marching orders to use it to make rich people pay their taxes, and they would net a profit. They should just tax a few billionaires and give the money to Israel instead of saying that money for Israel must come with tax breaks for tax cheats.
