2022 World Series of Poker - Commonwealth goes on a heater

I think I speak for all of us when I say that watching you play a FT for six figures was the best competence porn I’ve seen in at least a year.

I admit I wasn’t paying super close attention and jmakin was talking over the table talk, but it felt like you started to get a bit chattier when I said that. It seemed possible you were trying to get Kaupp to come out of his shell, but I wondered if it made them less afraid because you seemed more human.

Congrats CW on the run. The chat on jmakin’s stream was probably about 6-8x as active as the chat here if that gives you any sense of how many were following from UP.

I don’t know if you have or will go back to the final table video, but it was so obvious that the commentators wanted you to win, especially when it got down to 4 players. They loved that story about you winning the literal last bracelet at two in the morning and tweeting to the WSOP dude about whether or not you get to go. (Plus I don’t know how it came off actually at the table, but on TV those other three guys were total charisma vacuums). At one point they even talked about how you went to Syracuse and mentioned how it’s a pretty good school for sports broadcasting, which a lot of us got a chuckle at.

Enjoy your $100k and have a safe trip back to the Eastern time zone. (Party in Philadelphia when?)

Absolutely sick few days. Well done CW. Was a lot of fun to rail.

Lon mentioned that you’re a cuse grad and said “great broadcasting school, maybe he should be here in the booth with us” or something along those lines. Non zero chance you can parlay this performance into some poker commentating if that interests you.

I was just telling my daughter about that. I believe it was “I’m surprised he’s not here in the booth” or “behind the mic” and UPers were all like :smirk:

Yeah, CW, to echo what others said, you were definitely the best player at the final table, certainly the final four. They were scared of you. I was commenting during the stream that it seemed like for much of the final table, you got very good hole cards, but then couldn’t hit anything. And when you did, nobody paid you off. Made some great bluffs and re-raises, though, to amass some chips.

Then you went card dead late and couldn’t find a spot to make a move.

The AK < KK was brutal, obviously, but you recovered from that. It was the KK < 99 and A5 < 82 that did it.

Oh, and do you hate J5 at this point?

Yah, as everyone said, impressed with how comfortable you were in that environment. The broadcasting experience definitely paid off, imo. Didn’t embarrass yourself or be a cringelord, and honestly that was my bar for “UPer is on tv table”. Other guys were where charisma went to die. Well played, ty for the sweat and ty for the stream.

dlk9s jr didn’t watch because, well, he’s a teenager (and we were watching Arrested Development during some of the FT), but he was very excited about the updates I was giving him.

“Our guy just lost a big hand.” dlk9s jr cringes, “NO!”

“Someone else just got eliminated.” dlk9s jr: “How much has he won now?”

And he got some new Twitch followers! I saw at least one of you subscribed to his channel, too.

Oh crap. Meant to do that. Have a prime that I haven’t renewed.

oh yeah, I forgot I can use a Prime sub.

save your sub - I appreciate it but unless I get like 20 subs in a month I never see the $$$ and that’s never going to happen

On that specific hand (75 vs 74; I forget which of you had what), in real time it looked to me like you were just about to throw your hand in the muck and then you changed your mind at the last second. It was subtle and knowing what you had probably helped.

Then he raised you with that trash, which made me suspect he saw what I saw.
