My dog had a bad seizure yesterday and was having a lot of trouble breathing. The breathing is a lot better now, but she won’t move and is just laying there. she drank a lot of water but hasn’t urinated. My friend whos a vet tech for 6 years says this is almost certainly the end.
All the vet places are closed Sunday besides emergency ones and they have 8 hour + waitlist and I just found out you have to wait there in your car. She absolutely hates car rides and waiting in the car so I might hold of until for my normal vet since she doesn’t seem to be in pain/suffering/struggling to breathe. Hopefully they will see her one short notice due to the circumstances.
I don’t know what to do. Been my dog for 15 years and I got her when she was 3. I knew this was coming, but it’s so hard. Been crying a lot. Weird how much you can love an animal.
Just laying with her for now.

I’m so sorry. It’s so hard. If you know it’s the end, there are care providers that will come to your home so you don’t have to drag her into the vet.

Pretty sure this dog very gently grabbed my hand as I handed the owner an estimate for an auto repair, which I interpreted as “watch the fuck out mf”. Pizza guy has visited this residence multiple times at least.

Man I don’t know how much longer car dealers can hold on. They exist only due to state legislatures, who they admittedly own, but customers and the factories both really fucking hate them, and justifiably so.
I need a car. Tesla was my ~7th choice. No local dealer would sell a car without at least +5k on MSRP, often up to 3k of useless dealer accessories. A level of insult I take personally. The dealers are killing their brands. So I ordered a Tesla.

That article has 200+ comments, universally negative, at the freaking Wall Street Journal, perhaps the single most car dealer friendly publication outside of like dealer magazines.
The two biggest purchases most people make are house and car, and both transactions are chock full of useless middlemen extracting enormous amounts of money because of idiotic state laws.
What’s really striking about both car dealerships and real estate brokerage is how overwhelmingly they are populated by the dumbest people you knew in high school. There are literally zero instances of “well, after I finished at the top of my class at school I considered going to medical school, but decided what I really wanted to do is move back to my hometown of 8,000 people and sell houses”.

Today is the day that med students find out if they matched into a residency (they can scramble into positions this week, but for a lot of people it means their dream of matching died today). Feels like a lot more people didn’t match this year. We really should increase the amount of residency slots (something the feds have a huge say in).
