Does anybody else enjoy doing focus groups for money? I do them from time to time, but in a couple of weeks I’m getting paid $375 to evaluate some luxury SUV in person. Never done a car before, pretty excited!

How did you even get the gig?
When I was in my teens, I got set up to do play testing from time to time with Microsoft, but the best we could do was getting a free copy of Office to sell on eBay for our trouble. Not a bad gig, but not quite this good.
I got on some list at some point, they reach out to me periodically to see if I qualify for various groups. You can’t do them too often, I feel like it’s once every three months. The main list I’m on is for business owners / decision makers. This SUV thing is through a different company.
You don’t want me in your focus group. You should pay me not to be in it.

Remember when they bring you to the giant airplane hangar and pull the sheet off the car you gotta act real surprised when they tell you it’s a Buick or your reaction won’t make the commercial.

She’s gotta be on the very edge of not being able to have kids, right? Aren’t pregnancies at that age fairly dangerous?

twins are more common with ivf. seems likely at that age
Higher risk of hypertension and gestational diabetes for the pregnant person, more likely that they have to do a C Section. Over 40 is kinda considered a high risk pregnancy even in otherwise healthy folks.

Not as much as it used to be. Most clinics won’t implant more than one embryo at a time anymore
Over 35 is technically a “geriatric pregnancy”, which seems pretty absurd to me
