Thought this was a curious statistic: more English speakers on Duolingo are learning Japanese and Korean than German and Italian. Quite possible that Korean moves up to the #3 spot in a few years.

If you are someone like me who likes to hike off the beaten track apple just revolutionized the industry. They basically put devices like garmin and spot emergency satellite devices out of business because the new iPhone can connect directly to satellites even when there is no cell connection. It is very cool!

Not sure how much of an impact this has on the numbers, but there is a bias due to the fact that Japanese/korean lessons are available in few other languages than English (e.g. for me I can learn spanish/German/Italian in French on duolingo but not Japanese, so only the latter would be counted in your numbers).
