That plus this VV is all you need to know we’re all fucked forever. The guy hates “The Left” with a fiery passion but can’t name a single reason why. Of course not being able to name a single reason doesn’t give him even a seconds pause. I’m sure he’s just as certain in his hatred today.
Everything up to the last two sentences happened. The last two did not. Someone was really messing around with that page if you read more.

In my opinion the real problem is with the DEMOCRAT RUN HELLHOLE CITIES.
I’d heard this many times, and have always thought to myself, “Wait, is that really right? No one was prosecuted for any property damage during the protests/riots?” But I was always too lazy to look.
Turns out, shockingly, lots of people have been prosecuted and imprisoned.

The AP found that more than 120 defendants across the United States have pleaded guilty or were convicted at trial of federal crimes including rioting, arson and conspiracy. More than 70 defendants who’ve been sentenced so far have gotten an average of about 27 months behind bars. At least 10 received prison terms of five years or more.
Also, what am I doing with my life where I allow myself to get triggered by this guy?
I’ve been getting into this podcast lately. This one on cognitive dissonance really explains so much about our current political climate. I can’t stop thinking about it.
The basic formula is so simple:
- I support a candidate who’s a scoundrel
- But I know I’m a good person
- Ow that doesn’t feel good
- God must have sent the scoundrel because we are at war with the forces of darkness (or something else that justifies my support)
- Ah, that feels better
So the net result is that the worse your candidate behaves, the more you have to believe the other side is an evil to be defeated by any means necessary. Otherwise you feel bad, and no one wants to feel bad.
They did an experiment where people who told a lie for $20 were still honest with themselves about telling the lie afterwards. But people who told a lie for $1 often ended up changing their minds that it wasn’t really a lie at all. The $20 people could admit to themselves that they lied for that much. But the $1 people felt like shit for lying over $1, so they found ways to convince themselves it wasn’t really a lie.
I haven’t listened, but is cognitive dissonance such a novel concept for most people that they haven’t already been applying it to understanding how people think about politics?
Didn’t anyone else learn about cognitive dissonance in school?
Obviously yes, but the podcast gives a ton of insight into the mechanism and how it manifests itself in ways that aren’t immediately obvious and sometimes counterintuitive.
Also this idea was only come up with in the late 50s. Before that it was all about “rationalization”, which was much broader and didn’t really describe what was going on. It’s wild that something so simple wasn’t really even recognized until 60-70 years ago.
there’s an instagram page that IG sometimes tries to shut down called homegrownterrorists that has been publicizing all of this as it comes out, on that page people are getting very frustrated because IIRC with the exception of one woman who only got more severe treatment because she got mouthy with the judge, almost all of them are very very light punishment.
The January 6th thread here was once all about people here complaining about light punishments for participants.
The movie Alien passes the Bechdel test if the computer and the alien count as female.
not only that, there are two standards for good reason. one is state/local jurisdiction, whereas seditious conspiracy is federal.
Looking at the possibility of a hotel room for the first time since March 2020 and what in the goddamn hell is going on with hotel prices?
Just did a search for a night near where my wife has an upcoming event and I did not expect to see over $300 for a night at a fucking Days Inn.
There seem to be a lot of articles about “twin flames” recently
Very interesting. Off-label use of this drug to combat obesity has been a viral sensation on social media for a while now.
there’s a few drugs with this kind of activity. Think I may have posted about this one? I know I’ve done two.
Anyways, none of them are covered by insurance generally right now. Weight loss surgery is though!
