2022 LC Thread—New Year, New Thread

Look man, that was a post from 2020 and it seems like people are just catching on now. When you view yourself as being on the cutting edge of the apple game, there’s no room for nuance.

LOL 2020. GTFO with that weak shit. I had my first Cosmic Crisp in '19 in WA. Probably no more than a couple hours drive from the source.

Fair enough. I’m just riding high right now because I’m in O’Hare and just got through security in about 8 minutes. Feels good.

When did we start letting potheads name apple varieties?

If you don’t have precheck only way to do that is to burn your one time.

Honestly, I went to dinner at a really good Indian place last night, and the two stars of the show for me were a cauliflower dish and a jackfruit dish. So right now, I’d consider myself cautiously bullish on jackfruit. (I’ve got too much up and down experience with cauliflower to have changed my mind from just one dish.)

Welp, I guess I can officially write off Anna Kendrick then.

Occasionally sacrifices must be made.

O’Hare is in the running for worst airport in the country. I think every NYC airport and Miami are worse, but it’s close.

Where did you go? I have had bad luck with Indian restaurants in Chicago.

Bad luck might be a bit unfair. They were fine, but nothing memorable.

I’ve seen jackfruit tinga on the menu at a couple of Mexican spot. Never pulled the trigger, tho.

Tinga “knockoff” would probably look similar, so maybe it was that.

That looks great. Kind of reminds me of another one (not in Chicago) that I like.

I think that type of modern take on Indian food is cool, but when I’m really craving Indian food, those places don’t do it for me. Main problem is that they are never spicy enough.

But I still like them a lot; they’re just different.

Get a can of (non-green) jackfruit and try that.

I remember that post. I didn’t remember the name of the apples though so all this time I have been looking in the stores for magical apples with names I don’t recognize but come up empty. Now I know who to blame.

Gotta admit Cosmic Crisp beats the hell out of WA 38.

Calculus was like the ONE class at my public HS where I had a truly outstanding teacher. I got college credit through the AP exam and then took Calc II first semester undergrad and it was like a refresher course and easy A. That might be the last time in my life doing well in school ever gained me anything remotely substantial.

Serving tortilla chips in a bamboo steamer is tilting me for some reason.
