How was a conviction even possible? What remotely competent judge wouldn’t instruct the jury to return a not guilty verdict for lack of evidence?

If you’re Hertz, and you don’t have a record of the rental despite the guy you rented it to having a valid receipt and weeks of bank records, I’m going to say that’s a you problem.

The guy was running for office at the time. Pretty sure his opponent probably schemed this.

They take your credit card info and I assume if when they run your card it’s declined, they then just report it stolen? You return the car and pay the bill and they don’t let anyone know?

Lol at USA Today having a paywall. Can’t imagine anyone other than chain hotels being a paid subscriber.

Hertz has turned into a scam company over the past few years. Never use them.

Lol 76. If it gets above 30 it’s glorious.

A buddy sent me this but I don’t understand it. Who am I supposed to be laughing at?

That’s just every dril tweet for me. I don’t get it.

Hertz is pure evil vulture capitalist scum. Avoid avoid avoid.

They have to be reporting cars stolen for the insurance money. People need to go to jail

Unsure if many cricket fans here but RIP to the best player ever and one of, if not the greatest, Australian athletes of all time. All the while being overweight and smoking ciggies basically his whole career.

Lots of Avis horror stories out there too. And some Budget. Enterprise seems to be the only major one without too many horror stories.

I still use Avis and Budget and just pray I don’t slip through the cracks.

Hertz says you didn’t return their pony.

I bought my car from Avis and it was a surprisingly good experience! They had no-haggle pricing with a really good price (it was late March 2020 and I think they were desperate to get rid of some cars). I picked it up from a small location in suburban Sacramento and the guy working there said “why don’t you go look it at first to make sure you want it, then you can come back and do the paperwork. I think it’s parked either at the end of that row or in front of Burger King.” That was the extent of the sales pitch and in-person interaction, everything else was done over the phone.

The only WTF part was when they sent me the Carfax on the car and it had a lien on it. They said they don’t actually own most of their cars but the lien would come off after my purchase goes through. After reading the last few posts I think I’ll order another report to make sure the lien is gone.

The things I’ve done to rental cars. I would never consider buying one from them.
