i am playing unholy DK right now in T7 after convincing myself i wanted to be a blood tank (I still do, and in raids I tank often). It’s kind of an interesting topic in the DK discord discussions right now because a major component of unholy DPS is “snapshotting” a bunch of haste and +AP buffs into your gargoyle and he becomes crazy strong and contributes a massive percentage of your single target dps.
they dont do parses here but I’m fairly certain I would have parsed in one of the last 25 man naxx’s I did. Even with dying several times early in fights (fuck you heigan, i have 300 ms) and tanking a few, I was #6 on overall dps and not that far behind everyone else at 4500ish.
we dont yet know til beta what blizz is actually gonna do with snapshots - I think and suspect they’ll be capped, in which case you’ll still usually want an unholy DK because they do that AOE magic debuff similar to the warlock one. If they do nerf it, it might become a meme/utility slot in a raid though - god I hope not, I’m completely in love with it.
I’m now dual spec unholy/unholy, one for pvp and one for PVE. Lol. Unholy in PVP is amazing too - you’re basically emperor palpatine in the backline nuking people that dare to get too close, occasionally pushing forward to spread your diseases, and are generally a backline monster that can also gank if desired. plus a sick pet. in bg’s they’re great at zoning and controlling chokes with death and decay, which is super fun because it always feels like you’re kind of controlling the flow of battle by yourself.
o btw dont worry if you get relegated to unholy, almost certainly most raids will require the DPS DK’s to at least have a tank set and blood offspec, and in later phases, blood DK becomes THE tank class, kinda similar to how bears became in TBC.
I’m not a super parse head, but I enjoy it. I’d definitely stop short of trying to get 2 heros or something for the rarefied 99s but people parsing well is a good indicator of effort and how well your raid is doing imo, except during prog obv.
i like the min max and theorycraft aspect of it, but only when I play dps. Since I’ve mainly been a tank and a healer my entire run of classic, I get immediately angry about parsing because most of the time healer and especially tank parses are utterly meaningless if you’re trying to boil it down to a single number.
i wish we’d recorded it. we had 4 left including me healing with my infinite mana spec, leader wanted to call a wipe because it was just 2 healers and 2 tanks and we got through a few blast waves and i was like wait…. HOLLDDDDDDDD
yeah fresh server’s look intriguing… 90 days isn’t long enough to ban transfers for though. ideally they are just permanently locked, but gotta be longer than 90 days…
sorry I realize I didn’t answer your question, I expect there to be quite a few of them given how strong they were throughout this last expansion as well
lock will for sure be strong… i think people like crix said that there will finally be a noticeable gap between good and bad locks, unlike current tbc where the floor and the ceiling are fairly close…
i judge fotm based on what i see in bg’s right now trying to gear up with honor gear… and that would appear to be rogues and paladins.
My guild fell apart last week after some struggles with the roster boss, inconsistent performance in previously cleared raids, and no progression in Sunwell. This is a mega-sadge for me since I’ve mained a rogue all TBC and had a guaranteed roster spot the entire time. Now I’m looking around at guilds/raids to try and finish things up and not a soul is looking for a rogue (I didn’t buy gold, so GDKPs prob won’t work for me lol). I’m kinda deciding whether I even bother with raiding anymore or just PvP/arena on my rogue, priest, and mage while leveling some alts for funsies… or maybe just take an extended break.
yeah i can imagine it’s hard to find a spot as a rogue unless your a buyer in a gdkp. or already have double glaives.
we carry 1 who is the raid leader, and probably the highest parser in the guild(98-99 on pretty much everything). he does have an ideal party comp however. enhance/feral/arms(no fury)/bm/rogue with double lust.
im actually curious what’s going to happen to all the shaman. most “good” comps are carrying 4-6 shaman in a 25 man raid. are all of those shaman going to reroll in wrath when you want ~1 per 25 man comp… or are they the next class to be spamming looking for spots.
i think my server is dying. we’re hearing rumors that 3-5 of the top guilds are already bouncing to Benediction and people are scared that xfers are going to be closed soon for that server so now it’s like panic decision making…
it’s really dumb that the whole game is going to end up on a total of TWO 35-40k pop servers with the way it’s going… because with the removal of the pve->pvp restrictions i think we could see decent chunks of makrik and pagle migrate as well.
Anyone have any secret leveling guide/addon tech that they would use for fresh wotlk? Been using Guidelime but something tells me on a fresh start launch that might be a nightmare.
