Yeah I’m in the exact same boat. Setting it down gently is a whole different lift. I have a couple gym pad things and carpet. I also check to see if the car of the guy below me is gone. Mostly I just go to the gym though.
Yeah. I used to love working out at home. But now I’m sold on the gym*. A lot more options. Everything is easier.
I was doing floor bench yesterday too. Climbing out from under to change the plates each time is a pain in the ass. Doable, but just not as easy as at the gym with the proper equipment.
*until I’m rich enough to have a fully equipped home gym with everything.
I have been working out at LVAC on Sahara and Maryland pkwy here in Vegas since the new year. I had not lifted regularly since the beginning of 2020. February and March and April so far have been consistent 4 days a week. I try to keep it short and simple and spend an hour or less in the gym. I mainly do squats for 2 days a week (Simple 5 X 5 program most of the time) but change it up. Last night for example I was messing around with sets of 3 and worked by way up to 255 and did a few sets of that. Upper body has been working out with the GF on machines since every fucking bench (I would use dumbells) is always taken. My upper body is my weakness. We do some chest and overhead presses and lat row’s and pulldowns. My weight is unchanged at 265 but I have gotten quite a bit stronger in a couple of months. I am excited to see where I am at the end of the year.
I did try deadlifting but overdid it lifting too much and my back hasn’t been the same since. I plan to start again next month and keep it light (Starting at 135 or so) and concentrate on pure form. My one time max was 405.
