Just an observation based on a small sample.
I’ve seen it said elsewhere by serious wordlers that it’s a schoolboy error to include an “s” in your first guess for this reason.
Is the no ‘s’ thing just plurals, or anything ending with an ‘s’. For example, CHESS would never come up?

Game mechanics in spoilers, I think it’s fair to fully understand the rules but don’t click if you think doing so will give you an unfair advantage or otherwise ruin the game:
confirmed no plurals in the list of possible answers. Words that otherwise end in s are possible.
confirmed for verbs that only pick up an s in certain forms. There are some infinitive verbs that end in s on the list, technically also end in the same s in first person. Also that observation doesn’t necessarily extend to verbs that pick up other endings (ie, -ed, -en)
