I think wordle is the super rare good news story from the internet. Guy made it for his girlfriend cause they loved playing word games. I don’t think he makes any money for it. It’s actually sort of sweet.

The real genius of Wordle is figuring out how to give people a way to share their results in a way that both disincentivizes players from spoiling the answer and that compels players to think about how their friends attacked the problem differently. Telling people how you did at Wordle using its mechanism is absolutely not hell-worthy. It’s wholesome. It’s camaraderie and respect. It’s a validation of the social contract. We can talk about the thing we all do asynchronously without ruining the experience for anyone else.
And even for haters, it’s so easy and obvious to scroll past and ignore. Hate on, hater. Your hate won’t spoil a bit of shared fun.
