I played a little as a pre-teen. I sat on the bench until one game, the coach finally put me up at bat. I could hit the ball like a godâso long as no one was watching. I could sing pretty well in the shower, too.
So the one game he put me at bat, I braced, the ball was coming fast, but I could see it like it was sliding on a line right over the home plate. I swung hard, and the ball took off into the hard. Fuck. Yes.
I took off to first base. My first bat, my first base, all in one day. But the teammate whoâd been waiting on first base didnât move. He was looking up at the sky, I guess at some clouds in the shape of a hot dog or something.
âWTF are you doing? MOVE,â I said.
But he didnât move. His gaze slowly drifted downward, and now I looked up and saw it, too. The baseball sailing high but not far and landing straight in the first basemanâs glove.
So anyway, that was the last time I played baseball. Fuck that game.
If youâre showing off old gold to your kids, you gotta show them this one

My friend in the icu got a firestick and I guess if youâre on your ass long enough you start to run out of ideas for shit to watch and so we randomly re-watched The Godfather last week. I donât know anything about film or acting, but if thatâs not a great movie, what is?

Yup. Pretty much every tight knit religion or community has this type of thing. I watched a Netflix documentary about Hasidic Jews called One of Us and they protect rabbis that do the same thing to children.
