Winter 2021 LC Thread—I Want Sous Vide

My father was a cop and he always said to never talk to the police unless you have to.

So basically, ignore the guy unless you get a subpoena.

I would change my votes depending on which country I stayed in though

The real question is, “Who talks on a phone these days?”

I’d avoid the detective based on that.

Adults. Adults still speak to one another on the phone.

Wait a minute, you a cop?

Boomers*

Texting is just so much more convenient. Only certain conversations ever need to be on the phone

I’m a super anti-talk to cops ever person. But I got a call from Utah that was so authentic, I confirmed that it wasn’t fraud and I actually did talk to the detective. Some guy tried to use my ID to get through security and board a flight at SLC. ID had been stolen a couple months back.

It was selfish, but it just seemed like it was going to be a lot easier for me to answer the questions. But of course had I given my ID to a friend to get out of the country I wouldn’t have answered shit.

Even in this case, the way the guy was talking me was just such asshole cop. Telling me it was a federal offense to furnish ID for fraudulent purposes. I actually laughed at him and was like, dude, you don’t need to come with the threats here, you say that kind of stuff and I have no reason to cooperate.

So basically I’m a rat.

If he’s legit then call him back. Crimes don’t investigate themselves.

This is bs. If you saw a guy shoot an old lady you should tell the cops what you saw.

If you shot the old lady then don’t talk to the cops.

Yeah, what do these people want done if they or someone they know was the victim?

If I’m the victim of a crime I want the police to come over and shoot my dog and make it all better.

Is it okay to talk to cops if you can get away with lying to them in a way that makes their jobs harder?

This is exactly why you dont talk to them.

No. You’ll end up arrested and/or harrassed for lying to them.

Honestly I totally get that not talking to cops is the move and I put no on all the poll questions but thinking back, I’ve posted my experience that cops legit treat me like a fucking king. I’ve gotten away with so god damned much shit by just talking to the cops.

I’m kinda conflicted now. I know some of that is variance, some of it is my charm, and lot of it being white, and all it takes is one cop who doesn’t like the cut of my jib to fuck me over.

I don’t know the most +EV move for me personally. Like if I made a small mistake that could get me in trouble I’ll probably try to talk my way out of it. For anything else though I think I should stfu.
