Winter 2021 LC Thread—I Want Sous Vide

4 years in trumps case

Doubt anybody cares about this much detail, but if you want more than just anecdotes about how jacked the building materials markets are, here you go. These prices, increases and delays are absolutely insane. It’s been like this for over a year, with no end in sight.

True socialist magazines have never been tried.

Lmao wow. Even if he is a greedy authoritarian asshole this seems like it will kill the magazine/brand completely.

I can’t imagine any leftists sticking around after that

starting the process of building a house now and yeah we’re ordering stuff now for a march-july completion window.

Whats up with cost increases in general? Seems like the cost for everything has been skyrocketing. Is it a supply chain thing?

I thought lumber came down a bit recently. Did that not really happen?

Lumber has come all the way down to pre-pandemic prices. The stuff that comes from China remains super expensive because supply chains are FUBAR.

Any Seattle bros want to help me out with a recommendation for a bar. Friend and I will both be there for a work thing, but we’re only there at the same time for one night. Here’s what I’m looking for:

– Open late
– Not that crowded or loud is preferred.
– Interesting cocktail selection is a plus
– Close to downtown

There are a number of places that kind of meet these requirements when I search, but nothing really jumps out at me.

oh downtown.

i just went to von’s 1000 spirits and it was good. Diller Room is open latest around there.

rn74 apparently closed down.

JarrBar is one place i want to go back to. Some Random Bar as well.

haven’t been to screwdriver bar, but it’s on my list.

Thanks. I’ll check them out. As far as vibe goes, I don’t have a huge preference. But important features would be
-not too crowded, can actually get a table
-something up high/rooftop with good views of the city would be great
-overpriced is not bad (For some reason bars that have a reputation of being overpriced tend to check all the other boxes. Also buddy lost a bet and is buying, but is loaded so he doesn’t give a shit).

It’s been a long time since I’ve been to Seattle, but Canon was a nice cocktail experience. It’s not downtown but pretty close iirc.

No views or rooftop, but you can get a view of a massive wall of spirits, some of them extremely rare and expensive.

MBar is rooftop over lake union.

canon used to be quite hard to get into. no idea about now, but probably since they aren’t really the only thing in town anymore. you had to call and leave a message for reservation or something.

if you can find a reservation at canlis, also nice views. they recently reopened, and likely still a trap for visitors.

Ask Iran about this.

Still 20+ cargo tankers from China lined up for the nearby port, as there has been for the last year.

What the fuck.

The Pink Door in the alley at Pike Place Market used to have an awesome deck that overlooked the sound. It’s been awhile since I’ve been there but I really dug it.
