Wild fire season 2021

I’ve had…

Bro… “Did you just call me a right winger” Me… “No, I called that View right wing”

Bro… “It’s good to keep an eye on the enemy” Me… “Nope, there crazy”

Bro “Refute the flat earth theory then, smart ass” Me “OK… You got me”

Bro “I mean, she’s a Dr at brownsville University” Me “And posts on youtube”

Bro" I know what Antifa means" Me “OK Gif” :ok_hand:

New fires in Napa/Sonoma popped up last night.

Personal connection: My brother and his girlfriend rented a VRBO in the Sonoma mountains this weekend, he proposed, she said yes, they are happy. They came home yesterday afternoon…

…which was apparently just in time, because the house they rented was a total loss in the fire overnight.

Holy shit I’m glad they’re ok. They didn’t make any grandiose engagement announcements with explosives did they?

Yup, we are about to get hit with another huge smoke wave in Norcal this week.

Also, really glad they got out ok.

haha no. It looked like a really nice place, too. There are several vacation rentals/homes up in the area, I bet they are all gone too.

2020 just can’t let anything good happen without tainting it, I guess…

Pin is roughly where they stayed. The Glass fire spread almost 12000 acres overnight and this morning.

That’s terrifying.

That doesn’t augur well.

yeah, updated boundaries: Google Maps

My dad is freaking out right now. A lot of old estate wineries in that area. He did his post doc work at SF State in the early 70’s, before CA wines got super hip, and spent a lot of weekends up that way learning to love those wines and wineries.

Even if they save winery buildings, a lot of the old vineyards are probably decimated.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Fountaingrove Inn in Santa Rosa from 9/17 - 9/20 in 2017. Just a couple weeks later it burned down in a fire.

We parked right where those cars are shown in the pictures. I’m grateful we were safely home when it all went down, that’s for sure.

It’s a lot of the same area that’s burning this time. The Chateau St. Jean Winery, which burned in 2017, is in danger this time around, too.

air quality here in the red again.

Yeah, we love the Calistoga area, and we’re sweating for our favorite wineries and other destinations. There’s a pretty neat old school, water powered mill in that vicinity, too, that’d be a shame to lose.

Damn, Sterling is right in the middle of the valley, not up on the slopes.

Also, Ledson’s drainage system caught fire, so it was down toward the Kenwood area too.

Number of acres burned has tripled since that tweet.

Damn

wildfire season trying for one last hurrah. Hopefully it slinks away in disgrace.

The blue dot (level 8) is basically centered on my neighborhood. I will probably lose power tonight. I can hear my wind chimes, which means its already picking up.

So crazy that we live probably 20 miles from each other, and you have like 1000x more exposure to wildfires and Trumpkins. Stay safe.
