k, I looked this up and started at 82 because of some reagan/trump parallels
82 dems +11.8 (only gained one senate seat, and that was because someone left the party)
84 Reagan +18.2 jfc Dems actually gained 2 senate seats and somehow also kept the house (!)
86 Dems win senate dems +7.7 (R’s won a bunch of gov’s)
88 Bush + just under 8 apparently Dems retained congress with a +7.7 vote there
90 Dems +7.8
92 Dems +5.6 Clinton only gets 43% but Perot costs Bush. Dems still lose 9 seats because of “redistricting” a lot more minority districts.
94 R’s win congress at +6.8
96 Dems +8.5 lol clinton wins though R’s still hold congress (and pick up 2 senate seats because this is how this always goes)
98 R’s +1.1 Dems win a few seats. Impeachment is cited as the reason dems didn’t get killed.
00 LOL Dems gain congress seats but R’s actually win house votes, and well you know the presidential thing

I guess the cliffs are, it’s happened before where one party killed the other in midterms then got blasted in the presidential election and by that it’s happened several times. It’s happened before where impeachment is the thing cited as what cost one party from clobbering the other. This is all within our lifetimes.
tl;dr if Trump wins it’s simply history repeating itself. Yes it’s far more polarized so swings aren’t gonna be anywhere near as loltastic as 10 each way but he’s certainly got a shot against any dem.

Maybe, but “I dont recognize the country from blah blah blah” I heard quite a bit as a reason for voting Trump.
Popular sentiment, probably something to it.
Those two 'I don’t recognize …" are being used in entirely different ways and contexts
It’s like someone making a statement about the State of Georgia and then someone else making a point about the country of Georgia and claiming it’s relevant because they both have the word Georgia.

I think Vermont is Bernie country. They will Bern it all down before the GOP ever has a shot.
Essentially every major elected position in Vermont is a Democrat. The one sore spot is their governor, Philip Scott (R), but his Lt governor is David Zuckerman, a member of the Progressive party. Phil’s popularity even among Democrats in Vermont has been consistently high. Though I LOL when they acknowledge he has killed all of the local legislation Bernie wants. They say things like yeah, Phil sucks, but he’s so nice…

You guys must be big donors.
I get asked a lot as well and have maybe donated $75 this year amongst everyone. I have gotten a few requests to phone bank. Phone calls asking for donations : phone calls for banking, maybe 2:1. Mostly I get A LOT of emails asking for money.
